If so, should we not have been told what is going on by now?

No, they aren’t. Johnson said that on Monday he would lay out the government’s plans, including potentially ending all self isolation this month, rather than next month.

ColettesEarrings · 19/02/2022 09:08

There's been far too much store set by what is simply an update to parliament. Peiple are acting as if it's a done deal. It's nothing of the sort.

balalake · 19/02/2022 09:27

Sunday papers may given a clue, but I would not count on anything until it is announced.

I'd like the isolation requirement to stay. Stop horrible bosses forcing people with the virus into workplaces.

Florelei · 19/02/2022 09:35

I agree, I just read on here people saying all the time that isolation is ending on Monday and wondered where this had come from.

It’s looking likely that Johnson will announce on Monday that self isolation will end, but it’s not guaranteed and it also wouldn’t end on Monday anyway. He’d be announcing a future change.

Crackingowlsanctuary · 19/02/2022 09:47

Next Thursday 24th was hinted at the date that isolation would end with Johnson laying out the plan this Monday. We’ll have to wait and see what happens

Some of us won't get paid if we don't go into the workplace so we aren't bothering testing any more. Keeping isolation in place won't help, making decent sick pay a priority would.
VikingOnTheFridge · 19/02/2022 10:35

Exactly. The isolation requirements staying but without a corresponding entitlement to sick pay just fucks over people who need their wages to live.

ifonly4 · 19/02/2022 10:48

DH nor myself were well enough to go back into work. I started feeling better days 6/7 and more lively day 8, then I went down hill and literally had the symptoms of a stinking cold on day 10. Really hoping there won't be the pressure to go into work if people really aren't well.

Ilovechocolatetoomuch · 19/02/2022 11:38

I really hope so, if you are ill stay at home if not go out it should be the same as any other virus.
Sorry I’m just feeling really fed up with being stuck in the house yet again 😭

balalake · 19/02/2022 12:09

I agree about proper sick pay levels.

Hasselhoffsheadband · 19/02/2022 12:10

Yes, people at work kept saying 'the rules are changing next week you know'....no they are not!

GirlInACountrySong · 19/02/2022 12:15

We have paid full sick pay all the way through....for covid, isolation ,days off after Jab....the lot!

But now.... no... those who have had to cover for all this ( huge busy retail) are absolutely knackered, rundown and some are now starting to go off with stress

We cannot do this anymore. There's no new staff to magically appear and cover, we have had up to 45% of our workforce off at some points..... there's zero leeway from customers who expect the same service ( point proven here on mn people moaning about retail..no stock, no staff, late deliveries)

How do you propose we carry on?

VikingOnTheFridge · 19/02/2022 15:18

This is also true. Full sick pay is a necessity, but it isn't enough either.

ilovesooty · 19/02/2022 15:30

No. Johnson is supposed to be updating Parliament on Monday.

In the next general election vote for a party which promises to increase SSP/benefits in general and/or trial universal basic income.
VikingOnTheFridge · 19/02/2022 18:12

Are any of them advocating UBI trials?
