What happens if LFTs positive beyond day 10?

Nearing the end of 10 day isolation and still getting positive LFT tests - what happens if I still test positive beyond day 10? Should I still isolate? Thanks

Once you reach the end of day 10 you can stop isolating regardless of LFT result

FelicityBob · 18/02/2022 16:48

Unless you work in my place of work, where you’re not allowed back til LFT is negative

AFIK · 18/02/2022 16:50

Unless your employer has other guidance (ie nhs or similar) then just stop isolating and go back to normal.

Raindancer411 · 18/02/2022 16:57

Unless you have certain symptoms you can come out of isolation

I had this and rung 119. They told me there is no legal requirement to isolate after day 10 and I could go out but they advised no close contact, hugging etc, for another week or until I had two clear tests

ScrunchedAndScrambled · 18/02/2022 17:02

Also DS has not tested for couple of days - he’s on day 10 and refusing to test as he says no point as it’s day 10 now and he’s allowed out tomorrow whatever - plans to get bus to town.

He’s 15 - has been going stir crazy - have been wondering if I should insist on him resting, but I suffer badly with anxiety and his dad has been telling him he doesn’t need to test

whichever came first I should have added

dementedpixie · 18/02/2022 17:03

You dont need negative tests to end isolation unless ending it early and if he has no temperature then he can go out.

dementedpixie · 18/02/2022 17:05

There is no requirement to test to end isolation after 10 days.

No need to isolate unless you still have a fever, though I'd probably avoid anyone particularly vulnerable for a few days.

thats what 119 effectively said to me. Alright being out but not in close contact.

He’ll be on the bus and seeing friends - I wish he would do a test, but because my mental health is bad around anxiety he doesn’t take me seriously and his dad has said to ignore me.

Unless he has a fever he does not need to test to go out now and his dad is right that you shouldn't make him. Sorry to be blunt but there you go.

Glitterandunicorns · 18/02/2022 21:20

Hi OP. Technically, as others have said, your son is legally allowed to go about his business on day 10 regardless of his testing status.

It sounds like your family are not very supportive of your mental health though. Do you live with your husband? Is he usually supportive other than around this Covid isolation issue?

I hope you're ok. Anxiety is horrible, especially when there are kids and a pandemic to add into the mix. Thanks

Day 10 here and my test this morning was very much still positive! I plan to go out tomorrow (weather permitting) as don't want my daughter stuck inside bored for another weekend!
