Some countries do want booster but hardly any - those that do say only if its been 270 days since second dose - at 16 he wont have an issue as it wont have been that long. The booster is more an issue for over 18

We were 12 weeks for our 15 year olds and 4 weeks for us adults.

The official advice is 12 weeks for under 18 and 4 weeks for over 18 or for 16-18yo at increased risk. Although the system allows you to book after 4 weeks (as adults are eligible at that point) you should be turned away from the appointment if not qualifying.

What countries requires will vary. Look at gov.uk (or your local government site if that isn't it) for entry requirements for each country.
