Australia tourism to resume

Tourism is set to resume on the 21st February, what is the mood on Australia in the UK?

Has Australia’s reputation been damaged? What are your thoughts on different states having different restrictions?

Would Australia be a destination you would entertain?
We have spent millions on tourism campaigns to entice people back to Australia and I wondered if that was money well spent?

I wouldn't go there or NZ even if you could, their response to COVID has been totally unreasonable esp now. Too scared to get flippin trapped there.

You just know it’d be all come over, you’re welcome but if the situation changed it’d be well what did you expect it’s a pandemic

@MarshaBradyo exactly, word for word.

I wouldn’t travel anywhere which uses or might start using hotel quarantine. The possibility of having a toddler locked in a hotel room with me for two weeks just isn’t worth it for a holiday. I wouldn’t go anywhere where there was a high risk of being imprisoned for something beyond my control pre or post covid. Plus I’d be very sceptical of actually being able to go when I booked because the rules could change so suddenly or even if it was possible to go you could be going to a place with loads of restrictions, masks etc, which doesn’t sound enjoyable whereas that’s unlikely to happen again in the UK.

I’d love to go to Australia and might have risked it pre children but I’d wait until all covid restrictions are gone and a large period of time has passed now.

I’d apply the same logic to Spain etc. I wouldn’t choose to holiday somewhere where they could suddenly decide that you need a mask to sit on a beach.

Would definitely not consider traveling to Australia until the pandemic is a long distant memory. I associate Australia with draconian Covid measures (I have Australian friends) and I would not want to visit.

Very valid concerns.

Our top 5 markets for tourism are NZ, China, USA, UK and Japan.
NZ and China aren’t an option because of their Covid rules and restrictions, I believe our reputation has taken a beating with the USA so perhaps Japan might end up being the bulk.

I predict it will be years before we see any kind of normalcy with tourism.
Our cities are dead quiet.

I'm sorry for your tourism industry, it's really made an impact on a lot of people how your government dealt with this whole situation though sadly.
