After effects of Omicron

Hi,

I am post Omicron Day 5. I really don't feel great, almost worse than when I actually had it as I am expected to be up and out and back to work. How long did others take to bounce back? I am 62.

Back to work at day 11, but not great for a month.

PinkiOcelot · 13/02/2022 17:08

I tested positive on 9 Jan but didn’t go back to work until 24 January. I just didn’t feel well enough at the end of my isolation. I still have days where I feel really tired and breathless, especially on minimal exertion.

If you don’t feel well enough, don’t rush back to work. Get a sick note.

CovidCurious · 13/02/2022 17:42

I got what I assume to have been Omicron on Boxing Day. Thought I was recovered on day 12 but fatigue and general malaise came and went for quite a while. I've only felt back to normal this month.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 13/02/2022 17:44

I don't know if I had omicrom or what at the end of November, but my sense of smell is still only 75% and I smell phantom smells now too !

SaberToothKitten · 13/02/2022 17:51

Day 13 here and still need an afternoon nap (3hours today) and a full nights sleep. No energy at all and an awful cough.

delilahbucket · 13/02/2022 18:19

Day 17 here and still exhausted, wheezing and coughing. Want to get back into my running but even a walk leaves me coughing. I am also fed up with conking out on the sofa every evening. I'm normally never poorly, I never catch viruses and I'm boosted, and this has floored me. Think it caught my immune system at a vulnerable time as I've not had it previously, but I had just started going out into really busy rooms (choir practice with 80+ people) again and then DS got it. My poor immune system probably didn't know what had hit it after being away from groups of people for so long.

Day 23, have been admitted to hospital twice since "completing" isolation, due to severe chest pain, breathlessness, coughing up blood, high heart rate and super high blood pressure. Have had 2 courses of oral antibiotics, and 2 lots of IV antibiotics and still feel like shit - way worse than when I was in isolation. In my 30s, some health conditions but nothing on the vulnerable list.

Suburbanqueen · 13/02/2022 19:46

Thanks everyone. I have a rank taste in my mouth and very sensitive to smell. It's horrible. And yes, felt really ill after taking the dog for a walk. My chest hurt. I realise I'm not being a pussy!

My first day back at work was awful, I had a terrible migraine and felt really nauseous. I started taking Feroglobin to top up my iron and other vitamins/minerals. Coincidence or not I've been feeling alot better since taking it.

lugeforlife · 14/02/2022 12:36

I am day 13 I think. Testing negative and a lot of symptoms gone. I got a secondary infection so on antibiotics last week which helped.

I am so tired I could cry (in fact I did this morning). I am wfh and have agreed this week I'll do a few hours a day to keep on top of stuff but will log off early.

I have tried to gently get moving as in walks outside but I am finding I get really faint if I do more than about 15 mins. I feel really really old and knackered and finding it all quite upsetting tbh - that will be the emotional symptoms!

Meltinthemiddle · 14/02/2022 22:05

I went back to work today day 13 after feeling fine since day 5. I woke up coughing, tight chest and just no energy. I've been telling everyone Im well but today I feel like utter shit. Why would it suddenly change now 🙄

LoLo2020 · 15/02/2022 00:15

I had a positive test 3.5 weeks ago, felt ropey with heavy cold. Started to recover and then seemingly got another cold which hit me even harder. Cough has finally stopped but feel odd still, quite tired and sense of smell is still off (acrid smells of smoke come and go).

Suburbanqueen · 22/02/2022 13:41

Yes, I now have a cough, headache and wheezing. Feel bloody awful tbh. Sweating randomly, keep smelling fish everywhere and am in such a bad mood!

I was back at work a week ago and testing negative since Thursday but today I have chest pains and am in bed. Feeling quite peculiar.

Mymincepie · 22/02/2022 17:02

14 days since testing positive and I'm chesty and my sinuses feel sore. I get tired and my legs ache if I overdo it. So fed up.

Distant01 · 22/02/2022 17:11

My symptoms were mild, but everyday I get up I have a new symptom.
First day or so aching body, shivering and hot, sinus headache. Next day weak arms, everything tasted bitter and terrible taste in my mouth. Now at day 10 it's a runny nose and cough.

Distant01 · 22/02/2022 17:12

still testing positive

ifonly4 · 22/02/2022 17:29

19 days following positive test. Noticed I've been a bit breathless when rushing around, walking up hill and my exercise class. Today has been the worst, had to stop doing exercise class for a short while earlier. Also, I've had two telephone conversations both of which I've struggled with this afternoon. It's odd, as I didn't have breathlessness when isolating.

Mymincepie · 24/02/2022 17:46

How is everyone now?

Distant01 · 25/02/2022 13:17

I had my first negative test today, day 12. The only thing I still have is the annoying cough.

Seeline · 25/02/2022 13:24

Day 15 here and still coughing like mad, absolutely exhausted, breathless and feel shakey/faint after the slightest exertion. Spending most of my time on the sofa watching Netflix, although can't really concentrate. Mid 50s with no health conditions apart from being overweight, and had my booster.

Mymincepie · 25/02/2022 15:59

Seeline that sounds unpleasant. I'm having headaches and breathing discomfort (not SOB but a kind of irritated feeling) still. Throat is sore too but not like the usual soreness, more of a kind of nerve pain.

brio4ever · 25/02/2022 16:19

You should see a doctor. I felt like this after isolation and testing negative. Turns out I had a second chest infection, and laryngitis which needed antibiotics. It's common for another virus to piggyback on after covid.
