Has anyone not tested positive until 5+ days after symptoms?

DS 13 is really poorly, all the covid symptoms. Started on Saturday, negative lateral flows and negative PCR on Monday. I know there's other viruses about but I'm convinced this is covid. I've never seen him this poorly. Started as heavy cold, cough, aches and has not turned into gastric symptoms.

Just wondering if anyone's taken this long to test positive?

I would test again, especially as his symptoms have changed. It could be that he had a standard cold and then Covid. LFT unless he has any of the 3 main symptoms.

LFT's are still negative.

Two weeks ago - to the day - teen dd had sore throat (but had been getting sore throats on/off for couple of months as in Dec diagnosed with glandular fever - and all PCRs & LFTs during this time were negative). LFT on this day neg. No worse Friday so went into school.

Gradually throat became more sore and very fatigued - but no other symptoms and those she did had mimicked the Glandular Fever.
LFTs continued to be negative & the Monday I spoke with GP who thought it was likely to be the GF. But she now off school - and thank goodness kept her off - as ONLY tested positive on the Thursday!! (admittedly I didn't test the day before - as only symptom was sore throat & fatigue which identical to GF and as previous LFTs continually negative and she wasn't leaving the house.

Funnily enough on that Thurs she tested pos+, she did develop a runny nose, and if she had had any additional symptoms I would have had her have a PCR test.

As symptoms for so long we decided Monday day 0, and she tested negative 7&8.

ps she was double jabbed; my other teen who double jabbed, abd hubby and I triple, haven't caught it (touch wood) after 7 consecutive neg tests but it's v v v likely dd was positive whilst freely walking around home/hugging (although actually she did spend most time in her room - she is a teen!)
