How soon did you test positive after feeling unwell?

I’m feeling awful. Can’t remember ever having felt like this before. I tested negative this morning? Does that mean it’s not Covid? Or could I test positive in the next couple of days?

I had a sore throat on Saturday and tested negative.
Tested positive on Sunday.

If you aren’t sure what you’ve got, you can have a PCR.

seagulldown · 09/02/2022 13:23

I started feeling unwell last Thursday but didn't test positive for COVID until Sunday, so a few days delay for me. Sorry you're feeling unwell and hope you feel better soon

2pinkginsplease · 09/02/2022 13:24

I felt terrible on the Saturday and tested positive on a LFT the sunday.

My dd felt terrible on the monday but didnt test positive till the Thursday .

So everyone is different.

Thanks, just don’t want to go around spreading it if I’ve got it.

48 hours for me, 72 for DH

SatinHeart · 09/02/2022 14:02

If you can, I'd just go and get a PCR. They're more sensitive and then you'll know.
I got a positive LFT the day before my symptoms started, but one of my DC never came up positive on LFT, only on a PCR

rattlemehearties · 09/02/2022 14:04

I've had a negative PCR and negative LFTs. There are other viruses around I think. Unfortunately.

fenellastripe · 09/02/2022 14:10

I think it was about three days OP.

BethDutton · 09/02/2022 14:16

Three days for me (lateral flow).

MrsJaxTellerPlease · 09/02/2022 14:20

Started with symptoms Sunday. Negative PCR Sunday. Negative LFT Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Positive PCR on Tuesday.

ifonly4 · 09/02/2022 14:27

DH started off with scratchy throat Sun pm, LFT negative next morning. He tested positive Tues am.

Again, I started off with scratchy throat Mon pm, negative LFT test. I then tested twice a day as DH confirmed positive Tues and I'd started to feel worse Tues pm onwards. Eventually had a very faint line Thurs am (definitely have it as work needed a PCR and my end of isolation results are bright red still).

Hope you're ok, whatever it is.

LuckyWithMyLot · 09/02/2022 14:38

About 2 days before pcr positive

woowinnie · 09/02/2022 14:50

Mine was straight away, started to get a scratchy throat in bed on the Monday night and tested positive Tuesday morning once I woke up.

CaveMum · 09/02/2022 14:55

I felt a bit off for about a week before I tested positive. I knew it was coming as DS had tested positive on the Thursday with DH following suit on the Sunday. I did a PCR on the Monday which came back negative and daily lateral flows after that. On the Sunday morning my LFT was negative and I felt so awful that day I did another LFT that evening and lo and behold it was positive. 6 days after my positive DD tested positive with no symptoms (she was also doing daily LFTs).

I'm on day 9 and still have a very faint positive though no symptoms. As of midnight I am a free woman!

Youaremypenguin · 09/02/2022 14:55

Never tested positive on LFTs only in PCR, 3 days after symptoms started. Some family members who clearly had the same illness never tested positive on LFTs or pcrs.

rambleonplease · 09/02/2022 15:29

For me I tested positive the same day that I felt awful. However 2 days prior to this I had not felt quite right but not unwell. Just felt like I was about to come down with a cold but no specific symptoms.

My daughter tested positive the same day she was feeling unwell but it was in the evening of that day, she was negative in the morning.

mamatoTails · 09/02/2022 15:32

Straight away. My Ds was positive on Monday, I felt really cold with shivers last night and a headache so tested and got a positive almost immediately. Was quite poorly overnight with chills, and fainted twice this morning with a banging head. Much better now though, just exhausted.

Pixies74 · 09/02/2022 16:27

I tested positive a day after I started to get a sore throat. But DD had a snotty nose for about a week before she did!

Kinko · 09/02/2022 21:30

I'm wondering if I had it last week now reading this thread. I got negative LFT's - didn't go for a PCR, but I isolated. Husband is wfh and I'm on maternity leave - so staying home was no big deal.

My 6 month old baby came down poorly on a Sunday. She was very snotty, sneezy and had a very mild sporadic cough but no fever. She was better in 3 days. She didn't have fatigue, she was just snotty! I came down with a sore throat on Wednesday. On Thursday I felt terrible. Throat was burning. Then my nose seemed to turn on like a water tap and I got a mild cough. It was basically a head cold. I felt lousy for a couple of days but in the grand scheme it was a run of the mill cold.

No fever or headache and negative LFTs all last week. I'm still snotty now but feel much better in myself.

Husband hasn't had any symptoms at all.

Do you think it could have been covid?

Sorry to hijack just interested reading about ppl with negative LFTs who had positive PCR's and what their symptoms were like.

Alicenwonderland · 09/02/2022 21:54

5 days for me. First symptoms on the Tuesday and didn't get a positive lft until the Sunday! My son was 4 days.

Jultay · 10/02/2022 11:36

I felt unwell wed/Thursday had bad cough too but didn't test positive until the Saturday
