I hope there hasn't been another lab mix up.

Not me but my son do daily LFTs x

WheelieBinPrincess · 08/02/2022 07:40

There are thousands of other viruses that aren’t covid, we used to get them every winter and think little of it.

Yes, I am aware of that.

Yes. Testing negative but feel like I did when I had the delta strain last summer.

WheelieBinPrincess · 08/02/2022 07:42

Surely more likely it’s something other than covid with a negative PCR then?

UnbeatenMum · 08/02/2022 07:45

Yes, DH tested positive and I also felt quite unwell with a bit of a dry cough but tested negative on both LFT and PCR. I guess I have something else but Omicron is supposed to be so infectious I was surprised I didn't have it.

lambchop81 · 08/02/2022 07:53

Sounds like some other virus with similar trait's to Covid

lambchop81 · 08/02/2022 07:54

My son has suffered terrible with long Covid he's now ill a lot and sometimes it's similar symptoms I think Covid has messed his immune system up

GeneLovesJezebel · 08/02/2022 07:54

My DH was negative on LFT and positive on PCR on the same day.

LefttoherownDevizes · 08/02/2022 07:57

yes! Poor DS is really really ill, he says he feels worse than when he actually had Covid in March 2020. Coughing every two minutes, hot cold achey shivery. PCR negative, LTF negative.

Big outbreak round here too

Most odd

Theunamedcat · 08/02/2022 08:05

It's really contagious but my son tests negative all the time I've got it again his brother has it again but ds2 is negative looks like a ghost shivers on a warm house but negative!

I get other illnesses are available but surely in a house with two people?

DoctorSnortles · 08/02/2022 09:02

It's very odd. We have a positive case in our house. I have identical symptoms and feel absolutely terrible, but am testing negative.

Whatisthiscold · 08/02/2022 18:43

I've felt crap for over a week and it's really coming to a head now - started as sore throat, now we have an extremely stuffy, runny nose like a tap which is causing me to cough if I can't blow my nose in time. All lateral flows have been negative, so it is just a standard cold - haven't been "ill" since covid started. Never knew how people got so affected by a cold and now its happened to me.

lambchop81 · 11/02/2022 04:13

GP told me there is confusion over testing. LFT is for asymptomatic and if you have symptoms you should book a PCR. He said virus won't show on LFT if you have symptoms?! I now believe my son has had Covid in the last week but not showing on LFT. F knows!

efl1992 · 11/02/2022 04:47

I have been testing negative on LFTs the past week (no symptoms until yesterday) however took DD (6 weeks) to the hospital on Tuesday with a fever where we both tested positive. Was told there that Omicron isn't showing up on LFTs for a lot of people!

See, and they wonder why people get confused they should put it out there. My dad is positive and my partner is awaiting PCR results. Hope you both get better soon, 6 weeks, awe poor thing.

Same as me.
Boofay · 11/02/2022 07:06

We've had a covid case in the house. We're a family of six - eldest Dd has had covid, youngest dd has had a cold for weeks. My two ds have sore throats, runny noses and coughs. I have a sore throat and a mild/occasional cough. DH has a slightly sore throat. All of us are testing negative on lfts and pcrs. So I'm assuming that we've all caught youngest dd's cold and not eldest's dd's covid. Which is surprising considering how contagious omicron is supposed to be.

That's nothing new. That's been the case since LFTs have been available. LFTs are for asymptomatic screening. PCRs are for symptoms.

That’s not true, you can absolutely test positive on an lft with symptoms. However, if you have symptoms and are negative you should get a pcr to check - according to current guidance.

Those who are testing negative have you tried doing a throat swab? Anecdotally at least omicron seems to show up earlier on a throat swab lft.

Relaxing2 · 11/02/2022 19:14

Yea still recovering now after 5 days Yea been really poorly runny nose sore nose inside achy muscles sneezing loads sleeping a lot mild headache been negative for 4 days on lft and negative pcr I've not felt that bad when I caught Covid in November

OliveTree75 · 11/02/2022 19:57

I sat next to someone all night on Saturday who then tested positive on Sunday morning on a LFT. I’ve felt unwell all week - nauseous, headaches, congested etc but negative on all tests!

mammajustkilledagnat · 11/02/2022 20:39

We have one positive case in the household (Monday) and myself and another have been feeling crap since Monday. Now on my third PCR test, and if this one is negative I'm going out. I've stayed at home because I can and because it seemed the right thing to do in the circumstances. But I can't believe I don't have COVID. I was at an event last week that was cancelled this week because so many attendees now have COVID, including at least two I sat and chatted with. What are the chances that I just have a cold?!

Juniper68 · 11/02/2022 21:03

There's definitely something not right.

DD had this. I’ve had the same with less snot all week. Boring and annoying.
