Longer symptoms in child after very mild Covid?

My son caught Covid (for the second time) 3 weeks ago. He only appeared to have it extremely mildly - just a runny nose really. Tested negative early so went back to school. All seemed fine.

But since then he’s been ill so much. He says he has a stomachache a lot, some diarrhoea, and was sick last night. He also had I think a different bug which gave him a high temp but didn’t last long.

Has anyone else experienced this? It’s a nightmare with missing work and obviously I want him to feel better!

He’s probably just picked up new bugs unfortunately. It’s quite common after any virus to be a bit run down & your immune system a bit sluggish. So he’s a bit more vulnerable to other stuff. In my area, there’s been outbreaks of stomach bugs in 4 local schools & nearby nurseries over the last couple weeks 🥴 so very possible he’s got something like that, it’s def that time of year!

Also, covid can affect the gut. Particularly in young kids so possibly his tummy is just feeling sensitive & irritated.

Get him some decent probiotics and/or live yoghurt. Get the good bacteria back in there! Also Multivitamins & Vitamin D3 for his immune system. Might be wise to keep food on the plainer side for a short period. Avoid dairy as stomach bugs can cause temporary intolerance to dairy ..

Hope he’s feeling much better soon!
