DC tested negative on day 3 and 4 on lateral flow

That is, literally nothing on test stick, only negative line. She has no symptoms. Feel annoyed that we have to continue to self isolate her over the weekend. Has anyone tested negative like this and tested positive again on days 5 and/or 6?

Yes, it does happen, that’s why the rules are days 5 and 6. Even if negative before, there is still the chance of onward transmission.

I wouldn’t know, because i didn’t subject DC to additional tests when the results wouldn’t affect isolation.

DeathMetalMum · 06/02/2022 07:29

Same as @justkeepswimmingjust didn't bother testing dd after the positive lateral flow until day 5. Don't see the point in putting dc through it or wasting tests for no reason.

Same, we tested yesterday (day 5) and will today (day 6) but noting since the positive. Can I ask what's the point? It doesn't change anything as your finding out.

Why on earth did you test on days 3 and 4?

lovelygreenplants · 10/02/2022 21:29

She is in rude health abs I was stuck at home and feeling intrigued whether she had it! Anyway, she was neg still on days 5 and 6 so back to school she went, thank the lord!

I know someone who only had one positive LFT. Had to follow up with a PCR for work and as her family tested positive within the week, there was no doubt she had it.

I'm intrigued as to whether I'd test positive on day 4 (today) but will wait till tomorrow. Absolutely no point
