Likelihood of getting reinfected

Hi all,

I recently had covid starting on January 7th (after having one day off being a mum for my 30th and going to the cinema and spa!).
Two nights ago I had my next 'break' away from my baby and went to dinner with a friend, she drove us.
Last night she called me to say she's just tested positive.
What is the likelihood of me getting it again so soon?
I have done a LFT which is negative and will continue to test, although I doubt it would show up for a few days anyway even if she had passed it on.

Might seem like a stupid question so please don't berate me ☺️

Ps. Seems like a sign that I shouldn't leave my daughter again ... it seems leads to covid situations! 😂

Who knows? My dh had covid and I didn't get it despite sleeping in the same bed. The 2 kids didn't get it either but as they are teens they avoid us most of the time anywayGrin

Who knows?

But surely you realise that if you go out and are not taking obvious precautions yourself, regardless of Boris stance, then you risk this being a continuous recurrence?

KylieKoKo · 04/02/2022 12:26

I think it's unlikely. I had it at the end of November (no idea if it was Omicron or not) and have been a close contact multiple times since and didn't get it again.

Unlikely.

Having recovered from the omicron variant should give you pretty good immunity against omicron (and delta, but not the other way round)!

If you had it at the end of November, and you didn't live in London, it was almost certainly Delta. If you live in London, it was still probably Delta.

I do live in London. I tested positive on 29th November when Omicron was just starting in my area. It was only a couple of days before it was announced that Omicron was dominant where I live so I genuinely don't know.

And I didn't get reinfected despite very close contact with confirmed Omicron on 3 separate occasions in December and early January.

Dd had it twice in a month. We all had it including her in December. She got reinfected after a school outbreak a month later. The rest of us didn't catch second time around. So it really depends!
