Cold sores after covid? (pic included)

I have just had covid. At the tail end of covid I developed a cold sore around my nostril and one on the corner of my mouth. The nose one looks like the normal cold sores I get but the one near my mouth is horrendous. Apart from being really painful, it is about the size of a 1p and has a massive red swelling underneath the cluster of blisters. I've honestly never had a cold sore like it. Have any other cold sore sufferers had similar after covid?

Apologies for the gross picture.

Hi OP,

Are you sure that is a cold sore? it looks like a boil and they are incredibly painful.

Yahyahs22 · 03/02/2022 15:50

I agree with PP, definitely looks more like a boil to me

YippeeKiYay155 · 03/02/2022 15:52

I didn't think of a boil. Thanks.

Hi. I also have a manky photo. I'm prone to cold sores, and this was a couple of days into Covid. I'd never had them on my face before.

I've not had covid but have had the worst coldsores I've ever had after each vaccination and booster.

I hadn't had a painful coldsore before but post jabs they were absolutely throbbing. Yours looks how mine did.

I had awful cold sores just before testing positive. In fact out of all the Covid symptoms I had, the cold sores were the ones that got me down most. They were so sore.

Anyone who suffers coldsores should know to break out the zovirax as soon as you feel that tingling......

Not covid but I always get cold sores at the tail end any virus or illness, they can be triggered if you are run down or have a temperature, it does look like a large cold sore. I got shingles after my Covid booster which is a similar sort of virus
