What test to book to fly to the US?

I'm starting to get confused, but it looks like an Antigen LFT Fit to Fly done at the airport would be good enough?

Yes, that is now sufficient OP. It was a PCR until quite recently, but a LFT (antigen) is now sufficient.

But it has to be at the airport, and not a home test, correct?

You can't use the free NHS ones, but you can order tests online (C19 and simplytestme are good).

The tests get posted to you, you do them at home within the relevant time frame, upload a photo of the test and then you are emailed a "fit to fly" certificate within 30 minutes.

I thought for the US it needs to be a video assisted test?

Doesn't need to be at the airport as there are other private providers of LFTs

The problem is that there's nobody proper local, but I think I can do a video one.

Yes you can do a video lft at home and they will supervise you doing this via video call. Or can do lft at the airport.

Like you OP, we have no recommended (by the travel company) ones locally, so we are stuck needing an airport one. Annoyingly, our flight is too early to book one when we go. So we are having to do an hour's drive each way to a closer airport to have one done the day before.

I can't work out if the country (Jamaica) we are going to allows video ones - when I read their country's pages it suggests it has to be done in clinic.

Having been to the US over Christmas you can definitely order LFT and book in a supervised video. We use Breathe Assured but DOcHQ and Qured I think do the same.

They send you a LFT (which is the same brand as NHS but different QR code) you book in a Teams Appointment and they go through the test with you, your details and wait the 15 minutes before you show them the test. It has to be done the day before you travel

They then send the certificate through which you upload depending on who you are flying with.
