Filling in multiple bus and train journeys on test and trace?

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 01/02/2022 20:26

Dc have covid and were in London with ex this weekend during the period which test and trace want to know about. I can give vague details on their train to and from but not accurate times (I didn't take them - ex can't tell me). But he took them on lots of buses and underground journeys and cannot give me any kind of accurate times so it seems utterly pointless to spend ages filling them all in on the website questionnaire.
Realistically I don't believe that even if they had the accurate bus times they would do anything useful with that info, but without accurate times it is just a waste of time - right? Or am I wrong?

Do they really ask for this level of detail?!

Tiramysu · 01/02/2022 20:33

Oops posted too soon!

That's going to be impossible to trace anyone and would take them ages if they tried!

delilahbucket · 01/02/2022 20:34

I wouldn't bother, they can't trace all the passengers. I lost the will the live filling in test and trace for DS. It's ridiculous.

I got asked if I could supply postcodes for the parks my child had been to !

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 01/02/2022 20:55

Oh good - I was half expecting to be flamed!

Postcodes of parks - why? What will they do with the info? Perhaps it is matched up if someone then lists that park as an activity in the bit where they're looking at where you might have picked it up. I guess it's useful in some manner but given it's pretty much everywhere now it does feel like overkill.

@dunroamingfornow

?? Thing is its everywhere now. So it almost doesn't matter where you caught it!
Blubells · 01/02/2022 21:02

Why do they ask this?

Omicron is literally everywhere..!

dunroamingfornow · 01/02/2022 21:15

It's crazy isn't it? I just felt like they were asking questions from a script to be honest. If you say you've been anywhere they follow that up by asking specifics even if it doesn't make sense. They asked me how my son got to school as well

Waxonwaxoff0 · 01/02/2022 21:28

I didn't bother with any of that! I said I'd been to work and that's it. I didn't give any names either, everyone I've been around has been vaccinated so what's the point.

cook4Meals · 01/02/2022 21:29

life is too short for this palaver now, it's virtually impossible to follow up on all these location + omricon is now untraceable. Just say you made a mistake and they were home all weekend.

QueenOfHiraeth · 01/02/2022 21:33

I had been to the beach just before I got it and struggled with the form as beaches don't seem to have postcodes!

camelfinger · 01/02/2022 21:39

I’d be surprised if anything gets done with this. I’m surprised they’re still asking these sorts of questions, it’s all pointless.

bluechameleon · 01/02/2022 21:46

I didn't bother with a lot of this, it was just an insane level of detail and I didn't feel well. I'm 100% certain they don't do anything with information about train journeys so I didn't feel bad missing it out.

Hairyfriend · 01/02/2022 21:55

The postcode thing is because the whole system is linked to postcodes and flagging up cases and outbreaks within a specific area. Its ridiculous though, because when I worked for them, we weren't allowed to google the postcode ourselves of where the person said they were! We had to rely on the sick person either knowing their local tesco, library, park postcode automatically, or offering to google it for us themselves whilst on the phone to us! So if they said 'I was at the tesco express at Paddington station, london' we weren't even allowed to google it for them. The postcode got left blank and I assume nothing further was done. I cant see that adding each tube journey is of any use at all! They can't trace any one in the carriage or train or the thousands within a station at any one time!

This was back when they had medically trained staff doing most of the calls. Now, its been downgraded to call centre staff reading a script, so I have no idea how it is now.

@dunroamingfornow

I got asked if I could supply postcodes for the parks my child had been to !
So did I! I said “it’s a park! And he left it. They didn’t even ask for the contact details of the friends and family we had seen indoors but they asked me about the postcode of the playground!
Littlecaf · 01/02/2022 22:06

I also got pinged today from a close contact that happened 11 days ago. Ridiculous!

GirlInACountrySong · 01/02/2022 22:10

why are they still bothering?

next month people will be out on the streets with covid,in work and in the shops! once isolation ends it will be a free for all

Cripesitsthegasman19 · 01/02/2022 22:22

I just lied and said I hadn't been anywhere

CamomileTeabag · 01/02/2022 22:30

Nobody is going to go anything with that information.
I personally told the handful of friends and colleagues that I had been in contact with in the 48 hours before - and didn't put anything on the form. Just said I hadn't been out.

DockOTheBay · 01/02/2022 23:00

I definitely wouldn't bother. They aren't going to do anything with that data.

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 01/02/2022 23:56

Thanks. Even without that it took me an hour to do the bloody forms for both dc and because I had to list everyone in the house on each form and I'm the only adult here my inbox is now choc full of pointless notifications 😂
