How long did you have symptoms for before testing positive?

If you've had symptoms before testing positive, how long did you have them for?

I've had a bit of an irritated throat since yesterday afternoon (tested negative), today headache, feel a bit sick and now a couple of shivers. I wasn't concerned yesterday, but DH tested positive this morning. I was negative this morning despite my iffy throat. Felt worse after I got home from work and still negative now. I've wore a mask today, but I think I'll tell work I'm not well enough tomorrow as I'm fairly sure I have it now.

One day for me

fruitypancake · 01/02/2022 20:02

Around 48 hrs. Sounds highly likely , hope you feel better soon

TickerTocker · 01/02/2022 20:05

Started with a sore throat Saturday tested negative with a nasal swab and again Sunday, did a tonsil and nasal swab Monday and it was positive

It took me 4/5 days for an Lft to show positive but a pcr was the day following symptoms appearing.

So you went to work while displaying symptoms knowing your husband had tested positive? That’s responsible

I hope you didn’t come across any clinically vulnerable people in your day.

Surely if you’re symptomatic and your husband tests positive and your Lft says negative you go for a pcr to double check.

Schlerp work have stated clearly we're to go in unless we're positive or have one of the three main symptoms, which I didn't. Colleagues have phoned in before in these circumstances and been told to come in. I wore a mask at all times (except when I walked away for a drink of water), as did my colleague I've worked closest with - although we were distanced. Had both windows in my section half open.

I felt like I had a cold coming on the Wednesday and Thursday fine on the Friday , but Saturday couldn't taste anything . Turns out I was positive on the Wednesday as I'm taking part in the government study and did test as part of that on the Wednesday

Felt a bit chesty Saturday morning but negative LFT. Was positive when I next tested on Monday morning.

Toty · 01/02/2022 20:42

Not me but my ds and 2 of his friends all got symptoms on the same day and all tested negative until day 4/5 when they no longer had symptoms!

Blubells · 01/02/2022 20:58

Apparently you're most infectious from 2 days before symptoms even start. So there's a lot of infectious people out there unknowingly spreading covid.

Cuppaand2biscuits · 01/02/2022 21:00

About 3 days before testing positive on lft.

WonderfulYou · 01/02/2022 21:00

I was testing every day due to being a close contact.
2/3 days before I was feeling run down and tired but not ill and testing negative and then all of a sudden the full symptoms came on and I tested positive straight away.

Lucienandjean · 01/02/2022 21:21

I had a mild sore throat (no other symptoms) and took an LFT as I was going shopping (as advised - Scotland). It was negative. Took another 2 days later, still negative, symptoms still the same. Still negative the following day. By now I'm wondering if I'm crazy, but I don't have any of the big three symptoms.

Finally develop a very mild cough, I get a PCR, it's positive. This is day 4.

LFTs didn't show up positive until day 5.

ThisMustBeMyDream · 01/02/2022 21:24

2 days of symptoms for me.

SallyWD · 01/02/2022 21:25

Tonkerbea · 01/02/2022 21:31

4 days

EllaPaella · 02/02/2022 04:08

I tested the day my symptoms started and came back positive straight away (pcr).

sofakingcool · 02/02/2022 04:34

I went from feeling absolutely fine (although someone commented I looked pale), to feverish/shivery and testing positive within a couple of hours. It was bizarre how quickly I felt ill Confused

Wow look at you sitting up on your high horse!! Judgemental and rude! What were the rules then? Where I work we had to go in unless positive ourselves or unwell! Regular LFTs to be carried out. I might not have agreed with it but they were the rules. Doesn’t mean I would have gone about my normal life, I’d have avoided going anywhere else, not visited vulnerable people etc Some have common sense, some have to work where possible due to the nature of their role or to earn a living. The government made the rules! She didn’t break them!!

To note my son contracted it twice, I never got it! It’s not a given if family have it you will get it.

@Schlerp have a word with yourself, not everyone can work from home or has a cuddly employer.

ninnynonny · 06/04/2022 11:13

Currently on third day of positive tests but I had a really bad throat and headache over the weekend despite being negative right up to Sunday evening (1st positive on monday morning).

I actually think I felt worse before the positive tests!

Figgygal · 06/04/2022 11:21

Seeline · 06/04/2022 11:24

My DD had tested positive so were were staying in anyway, but both DH had symptoms for 5 days (and feeling ill with them) when we went for a PCR test that was positive - none of the daily LFTs that we had done were positive.
