Chance of been neg on day 5?

Felt bit rough Saturday afternoon thought nothing of it . Tested Sunday and was positive. I am going to test again Thursday as that's five days from what I realise now was probably the onset of symptoms. How many of you actually showed as negative on day 5 and 6? Keep reading things that people are still positive on lfts days and days after

OP posts:

Well not me (I'm on day 7 and still testing positive).

DS tested negative on day 6, but he was asymptomatic throughout.

totatola · 01/02/2022 12:14

I'm no help either I'm afraid as also still testing positive on day 7!

Dd has had covid twice in a very short time (5 weeks apart).

The first time she was asymptomatic, she tested positive after me and dp got it and had a line on day 9 still. Didn't bother doing any tests after so god knows how long she had a line for.

The second time she had some symptoms, she was totally negative by day 5&6.

It really depends. Severity of symptoms doesn't seem to affect it in my experience. I had covid in December and had symptoms for the whole 10 days... I was negative by day 7 or 8. as above dd had no symptoms and still positive right at the end!

I believe Dd might have cleared it quicker to e second time which might of impacted it but she actually had symptoms that time...

Really bizarre.

Halfarsedjingler · 01/02/2022 12:15

The only people I know who have tested negative on day 5 are the ones who have had covid before. We were all still positive on day 10 Hmm

horseymum · 01/02/2022 12:19

Friends D's was, totally assymtomatic and neg on day five. No one else I know though but you may be lucky.

CovidCorvid · 01/02/2022 12:19

I was negative on day 3. First time with covid

NotSorry · 01/02/2022 17:05

my dd was negative day 6 & 7 and she had symptoms never had it before

DS3 was still showing positive on day 9 - he also had symptoms and had never had it before

I don't think there is any pattern for anyone

BigWoollyJumpers · 01/02/2022 17:13

DD was so looking forward to being negative today, her day 5, as she was also feeling a lot better, after being pretty rough for a couple of days. Sadly not to be. Still bright red.

Hoping for a big drop off, as she was negative in the morning of her first LFT, positive by the evening, and a positive PCR confirmed that night, having taken that the same day.

Begonias · 01/02/2022 17:34

DD is on day 5 and LFT was positive this morning. She still feels unwell. I personally don't know anyone who has tested negative on day 5.

Chunkymonkey123 · 01/02/2022 17:38

Day 8 still positive. DH is too. I think the 5 day thing just gives you raise hope!

Picklesandbeans · 01/02/2022 18:11

Lots of people at my work (school) have covid. Majority not negative on day 5 (myself included) apparently a few kids have but there is a doubt on the truthfulness of that!

DontWantTheRivalry · 01/02/2022 18:23

I had completely asymptomatic Covid and my LFT didn’t turn negative until Day 10.

SpongebobsPants · 01/02/2022 18:46

My DS tested negative on day 5 (today). I can't help but wonder if it's actually his day 7 or 8 and he just didn't know he had it. I'm day 5 and my line is so bright it's hurting my eyes! Will see what tomorrow brings for both of us.

Skybooks · 01/02/2022 19:00

Don't want to be unhelpful but if you tested positive on Sunday that was day 0 therefore Thursday is only day 4.

I tested negative on day 8 recently and only had symptoms day 1 and 2 and was extra tired until day 4 (i was 37 weeks pregnant though so tiredness could be that)

Saturday is day 0, as that's when OP's symptoms began. The symptoms were what prompted her to take the test.
MissVictoriaPlum · 01/02/2022 19:12

My DC both tested negative today which is their day 5. Neither had any symptoms, so tbh I don't know if they had it longer than this.

dicdicnurse · 01/02/2022 19:18

DD is day 10 today and finally negative, I'm day 21 tomorrow and still showing faint positives. Still feel an bit pants too if I'm honest!

GiddyUpJingleHorse · 01/02/2022 19:30

Day 5 here and the strongest line I’ve had so far! Early freedom looking unlikely based on that unfortunately.

EnolaL · 01/02/2022 19:51

@CovidCorvid

I was negative on day 3. First time with covid
Did you stay negative?

I was negative on day 3 in the morning, but back to thick dark lines in the evening and for the remaining days until day 10.

CovidCorvid · 01/02/2022 19:53

Yes I stayed negative.

AlexandraEiffel · 01/02/2022 20:05

6 and 7 neg for me, 5 and 6 for youngest. Oldest still positive at 7
