Rapid antigen test for travel

We are booked to go to Greece this year and have been keeping a close eye on requirements, especially as DS (13) is not vaccinated. On the gov website it says need a rapid test (LFT) before you go but will need a certificate in your name to prove it. Is this a private test you have to pay for or can you just use the email that comes through when you log a test?

Has to be a private one. NHS tests aren't allowed for travel.

You need to book and pay for a private one

2 years in and people still don't know you need private tests for a holiday? Christ.

Tbh I don't know what to do because we haven't been on holiday for the last two years! Hoping to go to a Greece this summer but I'll have to google what to do. I should imagine lots of people in the same boat.

Was there really any need??! 2 years in means I now havent been abroad for 6 years. Previous rules were for PCRs to be done before travel, not lateral flows hence why I asked the question

Thank you to those who answered my question

I hope you enjoy your trip! Knowing of someone who has just travelled in and out of Greece, the rapid antigen tests costs about £20 each. You need one result before you fly and a test booked and delivered to your home so can test within 2 days of arriving back. You also need to fill in passenger locator forms for each journey. This is obviously the state of play now, the rules could change!

When are you going? Things will prob change so don’t worry about it just yet. We are abroad at the moment and Simply Test Me are the company we used, very quick.

Abraxan · 05/02/2022 08:04

Re day 2 tests.

If in England they are scrapped soon, so only need one to go.

AnyFucker · 05/02/2022 08:05

Another recommendation for Simply Test Me

JacketOnTheHook · 05/02/2022 08:39

You can get them from superdrug. I think they are called medicspot? You take it then they send the certificate.

Not going until August so hoping things change again before then to make it even easier. Thanks for the recommendations for tests - will keep noted for nearer the time x
