LFTs - have received the older type / nose and throat swab

Anyone else?

I'm currently testing x4 people a day (close contact, x1of us is +) and most of them are children.

Is there any way to ensure they send the nasal only? Can I use the throat and nose for nose only (I've been allowed to do this for actual PCR tests, at the centre, as children are small)

I squeezed and squeezed and there wasn't enough at all. One vial in a flowflex was completely empty.

I logged on to ask exactly the same thing! Am in a similar position to OP save have a positive family member, 5yo DD. I have now re read the instructions and I’d missed this too but a PP is right. You can do both nostrils instead. Which is a huge relief when testing a 3 and 5 yo! We have just received 2 boxes of this old style test. Have more on the way so be interesting to see what type they are. Kind friend had already dropped off nasal only box before I read this here so thankfully we’re sorted.

We’ve been receiving these lately, as recently as two days ago. I assumed they were old stock but noticed on the box I’ve opened today that the manufacturing date is 21/12/21 so that’s obviously not the case.

I much prefer using Flowflex plus there’s the quicker processing time with those and a little less plastic involved.

We are doing daily tests at moment and every box we have received in the last two weeks has been the old style.

We've only had the nose/throat ones recently. Single nostril on DD4 was enough to give a positive. She goes into hysterics at the mere thought of having the swab, so I only managed to get one nostril whilst she slept!

Yes. With older style tests we are only doing nostrils when testing the kids.

StellaGibs · 03/02/2022 09:31

Yes we have been receiving them but I just do them nose only on my children.
