Working from home with COVID

Those of you who are able to work from home, how much have you actually been able to get done while self-isolating with COVID?

My symptoms started on Tuesday and then tested positive on Wednesday. Both of those days I was able to continue working as normal although admittedly I was working on my laptop in bed.

Yesterday I felt absolutely drained. I thought I was okay to start working in the morning but after about 30 minutes I realised that I was struggling with brain fog and wasn't taking anything in so took the day as sick leave and didn't attempt to do any more.

Today (day 3) I still felt tired and dizzy but wasn't struggling with brain fog in the same way so did some work but took it relatively easy just responding to emails and attempting to read some documents. Gave up around 3pm when I hit a bit of a wall.

I think I just feel a bit guilty about not doing anything when I have the option to work from home but I'm obviously not well when making a quick lunch is enough to leave me completely wiped out! How is everyone else managing? Have you been able to work from home while suffering from COVID or are you taking sick leave?

DH has covid at the moment, he tested positive on Wednesday and phoned in sick Thursday and today as he's not in a state to be concentrating on stuff (he's permanently WFH at the moment).

If you're ill you need rest.

Definitely rest if you need it. I tried to keep working and am sure it then took me longer to recover.

No-one is allowed to be actually ill anymore if you can work from home. The brain fog - that's me for some reason. Made loads of silly mistakes this week while working from home with covid.

I hit a wall too after 5 days. I was pushing on but for what? I'm never off sick but exhaustion and brain fog bit. I needed to stop yesterday and today so took it off. If you are ill you are ill, you can't work.

I think people should only continue to work from home if they are completely asymptomatic and have only tested positive as a contact / required testing. If you have symptoms then you are ill and you should be resting, my 15 year old has spent the entire day in bed.
