One of my DC has tested positive today. It was only a matter of time as rampant in the primary school ( we were asked to LFT). Currently has cold symptoms.

Feels weird after so long not having caught it and at the same time dreading/worrying about getting it - certainly pre vaccines. Also do feel a bit like I’m sort of biding time until I test positive.

Anyway this is a bit of a pointless post! I don’t know was just reflecting how odd it is when it finally reaches you! I also have health anxiety and am wondering if that will ramp up.

I hear you. After it being such a big thing it's weird when it finally arrives. We're just coming out the other end here. 3/4 caught it. No one was very ill at all. And now you can test 5 and 6 to escape early it feels more hopeful than knowing it's a definite 2 weeks as it once was! And then you know it's over, at least for a bit.

MissVictoriaPlum · 29/01/2022 15:46

Me and DH! Both our DC tested positive yesterday, youngest is 6 so obviously keeping away from him is off the cards.

monty09 · 29/01/2022 15:53

Hi our house as well, step daughter tested positive Sunday up until today but my eldest was positive yesterday, we're just biding our time until we all get it, the rest of us ore still negative at the moment.

GypsyWanderer · 29/01/2022 18:23

We’ve got covid in the house for the fourth time since October (2 reinfections) and me and DH still haven’t caught it! This time around just DS14 has it and nobody else has caught it yet (we’re on day 5). DD10 has come out in a rash over arms, legs and face yesterday and then again today so I’m wondering if it’s a viral rash and she might catch it (again) but she’s testing negative at the moment and no other symptoms.

throwawayafteruse · 29/01/2022 19:36

I've had a strong positive this morning and feel grotty as anything. DD is still testing positive on day 5, but has no symptoms still. DH and DS both still avoiding it.

I have managed to coincide COVID with a horrendous period. Yay.

So thoughts I’d update this!

Tested positive today - so 5 days after DS positive and 7 since he had symptoms.

Sigh.

DS tested positive mid Dec, we resigned ourselves to all catching it from him over Christmas but it didn’t happen. Over the next two weeks both DD and I started with symptoms but our tests were negative. Don’t know what we had as we’d hardly been out and hadn’t been mixing with others.
It’s currently going around DD’s primary school, loads of kids out. DD started a streaming cold on Sunday but her LTF was negative. She woke up Monday coughing and her temp was up, DP also woke up feeling rough so he took a LTF and bingo he’s positive. I booked DD for a PCR which came back negative and she’s done two more LTFs since then and they’re negative too. Just feeling like we’re in a waiting game now, really hoping DS doesn’t catch it again as he’s waiting to get vaccinated.

To everyone who is currently positive wishing you all a speedy recovery.

LifesTooShortYOLO · 02/02/2022 20:13

I've been in a similar situation.
DS tested positive last Tuesday and me and DH have tested today (day 8) and still both testing negative which is a miracle really as we've been in the house with him watching films cuddled on the sofa and made no attempt to not try and catch it as like others we had resigned ourselves to the fact it had made our way into the house and we were going to get it.
I have a bit of a dry throat this evening but the worst part of all this is over analysing every symptom and thinking is it covid? Have I got it now? I could just be over thinking.
Who knows 🤦🏻‍♀️
I also have Health anxiety OP so this will be a real test 😬

Yes, I really feel it's only a matter of time now. I've never had covid (as far as I'm aware) despite working in a customer facing role, using regular public transport, supermarket trips, dropping/picking DS from school etc. Probably just sheer luck by this point

Up to a third of my co-workers have been off with covid over the course of the past year, plus my DS's primary has a lot of cases at the moment, but we're still testing negative thankfully

Unfortunately, I'm still bunged up with a cold 🤧 which I seem to get every other month Hmm So I'm not completely immune to illnesses

Also double jabbed and boosted, so that's probably helped

indiesearcher · 02/02/2022 20:50

Ooh us too.

DS went down last week, DD last night... both fine, a bit snotty.

DH and I still negative.

Is it only a matter of time? Should I write off half term plans??

Beakerandbungle · 02/02/2022 21:47

I wouldn’t lose hope those who are still negative - two friends had positive DC in their house and didn’t test positive themselves.

I was boosted quite a while ago now ( November) so suspect that didn’t help.

I’ve now moved from waiting to be positive, to waiting to see how bad my symptoms get!

Us too. DS is positive, he's really not well. I've been feeling ill for ages but always negative. Got classic covid symptoms.

Other children aren't well either, all negative. I can't fathom the pattern, it's very random.
