I tested positive for covid two weeks ago tomorrow, been negative since last Sunday.
I've had a racing heart, which has been checked by the doctor, blood pressure raised slightly. ECG showed no obvious damage. Today I feel like someone is squeezing my chest and am so breathless when walking .
Has anyone else felt like this?

I don't mean to scare you.

But please seek medical attention. Mum had this and was diagnosed with asthma. She died a few days later it was a Pulmonary Emolism.

A friends sister also had it and was treated in hospital for clots

Its probably not that. But I would suggest getting checked and checked again soon. X

Thank you, I feel less tired today, so thinking it's the lingering effects of covid

Those are my symptoms on day 9, 3 days after an antiviral infusion.

There were also symptoms when I had it in October 2020, many of them stayed with me to some extend since that infection, some 15. months ago. I was diagnosed with long covid.

Keep an eye in your blood pressure. In my first infection that was a major issue. It rocketed so high (was well over 210/120 and wouldn't come down)I was hospitalised. I will now be on two different blood pressure medication for life. It was raised slightly this infection, despite the medication, but has stabilised again.

My heart rate has always been fairly high. I used to have SVT which was repaired with ablation in September 2019. In both covid infections it's been high on exertion. This time round it increased when I move - to around 140-160 bpm. It's now dropped to about 130-140 bpm when I move, so slowly improving,

The chest pressure feels quite high up, towards the top of my chest. It varies throughout the day but doesn't really go away. Last time this improved gradually over the weeks/months but returned if I was very tired, off colour, etc.

Just give yourself time to recover and don't try to push yourself too quickly. Mine did improve gradually but didn't go entirely.

I had that just before I tested +ve in August. I thought my bra was too tight

It could be a vitamin d deficiency or anaemia as I had this after being unwell. Blood test will show deficiencies.

That's a good way to explain the way it feels at times. Even when not wearing a bra, my chest feels tight like I am. Though, it's changed position now and is a bit higher than that now.

I was diagnosed with anaemia and iron deficiency only a month ago - and now taking iron tablets three times a day. I also take vitamin d supplements. Have taken them since covid infection 1.

So definitely the OP could have checked.

It may be costochondritis too. Lots of people get that after.

Notmrsfitz · 29/01/2022 12:17

Yes.
I had it in October and feel like this often since, I feel like only the top part of my chest is working although I did think it might be anxiety too.

How are you feeling now OP?? I have this same issue wondering how long it will be before it settles. I’m day 20 now!! I’m ok at rest but if I walk about it feels like my chest/throat is tight. Would be good to her of how you recovered! Thanks :)
