just that really - if someone tests positive today on LFT - do they still need to book a PCR to confirm?

How do you evidence time of work?

If symptomatic then yes you still need a PCR.

Mindymomo · 28/01/2022 14:51

No, you no longer need a PCR if you test positive on LFT. You only need a PCR if you have symptoms but LFT is negative. Your work should accept the LFT result.

Doje · 28/01/2022 14:52

@Mindymomo is correct, you no longer need a PCR if you've had a positive lateral flow.

Doje · 28/01/2022 14:53

No idea about the work thing though, sorry. I'd just tell mine, but I can wfh.

My dd tested positive on lateral flow today so I’ve been through this process today. So you don’t need a PCR. However re your point re evidence time off work. When I was logging her Info there was something about some people may need a PCR still. Think one of the reasons was applying for financial support whilst isolating. But just to evidence time off work surely a positive lateral flow would be enough?

No. Im positive atm. Report it online and you get a code and information.

This advice is outdated and wrong
Bigfathairyones · 28/01/2022 16:21

NO - definitely don't need a PCR.

If you have symptoms you are supposed to get a pcr rather than rely on a lft to rule out covid. However, if you have tested positive on a lft, you don’t need a pcr to confirm that is correct.

Yes, there are some specific reasons to get a pcr listed on the nhs site but none of them are to confirm a lft result when you have symptoms.

still need to confirm LFT positive with a PCR test?
Whitefire · 28/01/2022 17:45

Dd1 is currently positive, so we are doing daily LFT'S. Work have told me that I would need a PCR to confirm if I tested negative.

Work do their own thing. They are also ignoring the WFH advice is a member of the household is positive.
