DD has a chicken pox like rash on her torso which has just come up. She had covid last week but very mild symptoms. Could they be linked? Has anyone else heard of this or had it?

Blanching?

rambleonplease · 27/01/2022 19:56

Have you got a photo?

Could be a regular post viral rash which is an urticaria rash, but that's nothing like chicken pox.

Has she had chicken pox before?

I've just had a read on the Zoe app website about unusual Covid symptoms and it mentions a varicella like rash such as chicken pox occurring after a Covid infection as one.

I'll share the link

Yes she had it when she was 2

Oth my DCs had a rash like this a couple of weeks post covid. An A&E doctor (unrelated issue) spotted it on one and said they have seen a lot of the same linked to recent covid infection.

DD got a rash that also looked a lot like rubella, just behind her ears and neck post Covid. Came back 3 months running when she got her period. GP wasn't too concerned and treated it with mild steroid cream.

This is all very reassuring, thanks all. I might give the dr a call but sounds like it's just a post viral thing then. It's not itchy and no other symptoms with it.

Yes my youngest had a similar rash after covid. Unfortunately it got worse for about a week, but was only on his torso and top of legs. It did get quite itchy. It took about two weeks before it started to improve. The dr just recommended antihistamines.

Yes. My 6yo DC had this. He had CP very badly as a toddler and then got a few blistery spots on his torso about a week after covid positive.

CP was doing the rounds in his class (as well as covid) so I thought it might be a second bout, but discovered is a post-covid symptom.

It looks like a post viral rash. Both me and the DC's get it quite often after any virus we've had.
