Should I go or should I stay?

Plans to go away for the weekend with some friends, one of them tested positive yesterday (Tuesday) and said had felt “offl” for two days prior. Lots of the group saying “you’ll be fine! You still have to come!”
My problem is I have family visiting from abroad the following weekend. Not seen them in 2 years.
When is the earliest you think + friend should be released from isolation, and if they do come along would you still go?

Earliest would be Sunday. After negative day 5/6

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 26/01/2022 09:15

Unless negative after the 5 days then no she can’t go

They will have to still isolate this weekend surely? Also isn't the advice to still be cautious the next few days eg go to essential things like work or school but not the pub ?? I know at work the policy is you can't eat or drink with others the remaining days of what would have been isolation (we are nhs so still in masks unless eating or drinking)

Would you say the five days starts from positive test or from feeling a bit off colour?

Test

I had it a couple of weeks ago and t&t went from when I first had a headache. So it depends on that she told them.

Also it's only five days if testing negative on two days/ I was still testing positive on day 9
And that means in a best case scenario out on day six . Today would be day one so the very earliest is Monday. But I wouldn't be wanting to spend lots of time with someone on day six if I was about to see relatives for first time in two years

Jumpingintomenopause · 26/01/2022 11:58

When are you due to leave?
Even if she felt off Sunday onwards I wouldn’t be keen to spend a weekend away with her this weekend.

Jumpingintomenopause · 26/01/2022 11:58

Ps. I was still positive on day 10!

And it is dependent on testing negative on 5 and 6 and feeling well. Most people I know were still positive or unwell on day 5

I'm on the same timescales. I tested positive tues, but had been feeling off from the Sunday. I had a child at home with covid so knew it was likely coming so we hadn't been anywhere as a result. The earliest I'm out is Saturday if I test negative 5 and 6 (Saturday AM being 6).

This is from test and trace, after inputting all the info into their system. It's done from when you first had symptoms not test.
