Is there any point in testing on days 9 and 10...

... when you are released from self-isolation on day 11 anyway?

My DS is currently on day 8. Positive lat flow tests days 5, 6, 7, and 8.

As per the self-isolation rules, he can return to school on Thursday.

Is there any point in lat flow testing tomorrow and Wednesday?

We are in the same situation. DD’s test has finally started fading as of today so we will try again tomorrow just in case she can go back one day early. She’s had no symptoms since Day 1 so c frustrating.

Not really no. Unless you’re curious.

Theres no actual point in it but it's good to know. I'm on day 10 and still testing positive albeit quite faint. Im out of isolation tomorrow and cant wait. Dd is on day 8 and has had her 2md negative test so is "free" today.

SymbollocksInteractionism · 24/01/2022 18:04

No, he is free to end isolation on day 10 regardless.

I'm on day 8 just now and today's test was the darkest line I've had!

Thank you - that's what I thought. DS said he "needs to keep testing until I get a negative". I suspect he misinterpreted the guidance (he's only 9). I just wanted to check that I wasn't doing anything wrong by not getting him to test (buy he may well want to, for curiosity).

I did test on day 9 just in case it meant I got out earlier on day 10. I’m not testing again now though. I presume eventually I’ll be negative again.
