Elderly parent, in hospital, with covid but has had 3 jabs. Presumably its possible to fight this off?

Does anyone know,
also has pneumonia, and has had chest infection. Very hard to understand. Getting info from family member as hospital cant speak to everyone obvioulsy. One person is nominated.

I dont even know if they understand but this is what we are being told.

Is there a good chance to survive this anyone got any info or thoughts pls?

My dad is 77, he was hospitalised with pneumonia, he is okay now. Triple jabbed. Hope your parent is better soon, he’s in the best hands.

You could try and ring hospital and explain the situation, they may give you an update. Hope you get some good news soon.

It’s definitely possible and they have the very best protection having had their booster. Treatment has improved no end too. I think the only people who can give you accurate information about their prognosis though are the people treating them, however I’m sure there will be posters along soon with some good news stories about people who have been in a similar position. I hope you have some good news soon.

Don't ring the hospital, they don't have time nor consent to talk to every family member that rings up

It is scary, and I hope you can talk to nominated family member and send love via texts to your relative.
None of us can answer what will happen with your parent. They sound poorly and covid isn't great, depends on the strain . However, there are many people with pneumonia , chest infections and covid who have fought this off. Older and younger. 77 isn't the oldest age, it's not even our old age most vulnerable definition of 85+ for frailty , it isn't quite 80 either, and I know people of that age & CEV beside their age who survived covid19.
But I also know younger older age adults who didn't fare so well.

I wish we could reassure you.

3 vaccinations is a great bonus though. Hopefully will help them fight it off

Covid Pneumonia is often a reason for hospital admission.
They will be given strong antibiotics while in hospital.
Three jabs gives a lot of protection, the number of deaths of patients who are boosted is very, very small.
They have a lot of knowledge and drugs available now that weren't there 2 years ago so they have a good chance depending on their general health.
It must be hard not knowing. Make sure the nominated person is asking the right questions.

How is your relative now @Sportslady44
I have found myself in this same situation this afternoon regarding my grandfather.

Sportslady44 · 28/01/2022 22:11
