Need to test negative to come home

My husband is working abroad and was due to return last Friday however he tested positive on Tuesday on his test to return home (asymptomatic) so is quarantining in his hotel room and still positive on day 7. The country we are currently living in doesn’t accept doctors notes confirming recovery from covid so he will need to be testing negative to fly back home. What’s the longest anyone has been waiting for lateral flows to be negative?!

I tested negative on day 9. I had very mild symptoms for two days.

13 days positive then changed to negative on day 14. Mildish symptoms.
