Skin rash and unexplained bruising after COVID. Is this a thing??

As a family we all had COVID around 2 weeks ago, but today 10yo ds has came out in small pinprick blood blister spots along with several areas of bruising on the skin.
I Was obviously alarmed at this and took him straight to the GP, he was rather uninterested and said because ds had COVID recently it was just an after effect of that.
Has anyone heard of unexplained bruising to be an after affect of COVID?

I haven't, but thatbdoesnt mean it isn't.

But doctors should always do a full blood count when there is unexplained bruising, just in case

Post viral rash maybe. My dc often used to get those and once my husband too.

Covid toes and rashes are common especially in children

There is a type of rash you can get after a virus so I should imagine it's possible to get this after Covid.

Could it be to do with platelets. I think COVID could affect them.

Ah ok, I didn’t realise it was quite as common. I think I was more alarmed as they definitely look, like bruises with pinprick spots I’ve put this photo on of one, this has come up over the course of the day.

Yes, my son was sent to paeds to have his platelets checked for ITP, which you can get after a virus, I'd ask your GP for a blood test OP.

My daughter had a rash after Covid. She was 10 at the time as well and gets eczema. It didn't look like eczema though and I took some photos. It went away, I used Aveeno on it and instructed her not to scratch it.

I’d also be wanting his platelets checked.
