My DS (6) came home from school on Tuesday with a headache and fell asleep on the sofa which is unusual for him. One of his friends who he had contact with over the weekend (different school) tested positive the day before on a LFT and this combined with him feeling under the weather led me to test him. The LFT came back positive. Started isolating immediately, informed school etc.
I then had a message from the parent of his friend to say the PCR for their child has come back negative. I hadn't taken my son for a PCR as didn't think the guidance allowed this. Following this message this morning I tested him with an LFT again and this was negative. A 2nd one later also was negative. He also feels fine and is showing no symptoms.
I've now booked him a PCR (I'm unsure if I even should) but if this come back negative, does this overrule the positive LFT? I've googled and it can't see any hard and fast guidance which says yes?
I also spoke to my sons school and they were unsure. They advised me to contact 119 once the result came back negative (if it does) but I wondered if anyone else had been in this situation.
To be honest until was the PCR comes back in record time it'll be day 4 anyway and we're so close to testing negative on day 5/6 I may just isolate anyway.
