Dc is going abroad 3 times this year. Due to have 2nd jab next week. So he can get the covid passport. His df seems to think the passport won't be needed soon especially by his April holiday?

It won’t be needed for return to Uk, but the country he’s going into may require it.

MaxNormal · 19/01/2022 21:33

It's being removed domestically but there are additional rules in place for unvaccinated people returning to the UK, which may still be in place in April.
Depending on where they are going, vaccination might be required as a condition of entry to the country and if I had to guess I'd say good chance not that much will have changed by April.

He should be able to get his covid passport 1/2 weeks after second vaccine. Just needs to have on phone in case it is asked for wherever he goes.

It is highly unlikely the country he’s travelling to will not require a Covid pass in April.

They’re a permanent fixture in some countries - have had them in place for 11 months where I live - not just an additional measure when cases go a little high.

Other countries are likely to require it. Also, we hope the worst of the pandemic is over, but there could be another variant so Covid passes might be needed, and it's still a good idea to have protection from the vaccine.

It's up to the country you're going to

Unless our case rate goes significantly down I can’t see many countries receiving us without a COVID pass

Hi I'm in Italy and It's hard to say, they seem to be making it more strict by the day, for example from today you need a Super Green pass ( so only vaccinated or Covid recovered) to go to the hairdresser. And from 1st Feb its going to be for all shops ( excluding food & medicines) banks and Post Offices. Personally I can't see it going in April. We're in different levels of lockdown too here at the moment depending on how bad the region is, although this time vaccinated people can go out and about, but the streets are deserted, feels very 2020. Very, very different that when I visited UK at Christmas when there were a similar amount of daily cases. People are still very scared of it.

Don't you need to be double vaccinated to return back to the UK?

QueenoftheNimbleFlyingCat · 20/01/2022 08:23

No Blubells, you can come back but have to quarantine and pay for tests.
