Tested positive today after cold like symptoms yesterday,

Triple jabbed and have never been so ill in my life. Fever, shaking and shivering and the worst headache ever hurts to even open my eyes.

If you had similar symptoms how long did they last please? Seriously feel a bit scared at how unwell I am

I tested positive on Monday after I tested negative on Sunday but it was Sunday I felt rough.

I was rushed to hospital on Monday by ambulance blues and twos.

I’m out now but I feel really really shocking. I can’t stand for more than 30 seconds (which is worrying me as I’ve had ALOT of blood clots and k ow that the chance of a blood clot of stroke both which I’ve had way more than 1 of rises massively ,y after covid) I’m struggling to breathe still. I’m exhausted. I’ve still got a lot of fluid on my lungs and coughing is excruciating…..

I’ve also got another condition which makes me have something called a crisis which is fatal if not treated. So I’ve already got into crisis hence the ambulance on Monday

I wish I knew. But I’m on day 3 or 4 and I’m feeeling worse if anything.

I had it last week, felt the same as you for about a day and a half, then found that ibuprofen helped alot more than paracetamol in bringing my fever down. From day 3 just felt like a bad cold.

The problem is everyone is different. I felt the worse day 3-5. But still crap until finally today feeling slightly better. I’m day 12. So it takes a while and some people take weeks or months! I’m hoping in the next few days I’ll feel back to normal. Slowly getting there. This was like a flu. Wiped me out. Only had flu once ten years ago. Awful!

FloatyBoaty · 19/01/2022 19:44

Days 1-2 were unpleasant
Days 3-6 were diabolical
7-8 (today)- pretty much back to normal- very much so today. (Although still a bit tired).

I will say that at no point have I feared for my life or health. It’s just felt like a particularly villainous cold- closer to flu probably. Was unable to stand for long on days 3 and 4, and just flopped on the sofa all day shaking with fever.

Glad I’m double jabbed. Wish I’d managed to get my booster before testing positive.

It’s the fever that gets you. Fevers make you feel awful. I had the ‘super cold’ in December & I felt far far worse than I did with covid due solely to the fact I had no fever with covid & a constant fever for 4 days with the cold. I honestly felt hideous!

Your fever should go down in a few days & you’ll feel much better then! Keep up the paracetamol & nurofen!

Thanks much as I don't like hearing others being so ill it's reassuring to know it's not just me!

Keeping an eye on oxygen sats as I'm asthmatic but so far so good. As you say it's the fever that gets you, heart rate was 120 earlier

@Januarypip

When I had the fever my HR was up from usual base of 65-70 to 100-105. It’s not unusual with any fever. Just keep an eye and if persistently high/unusually high for you, seek advice.

FloatyBoaty · 19/01/2022 20:30

SATS never dipped below 99% btw

DS is asthmatic and it barely affected him... a day or two of headache and high fever and that was that.
