Just that really. My DS came home full of chat today about their extra long computer lesson.

They all practiced on teams and sending messages to each other in case they have to do school work at home.

It's panicked me. Why are they doing this now!!?

Just argh really....

Is there a lot of cases in the school/shortage of staff? Maybe they’re worried they might have to close for a brief period due to lack of staff as there’s a real lack of cover in some areas.

Just what we're hearing from rumours, school aren't confirming cases. Seems that a few teachers are off.

I would imagine it's in case a high number of staff have to isolate/become ill with covid. If too many are unable to work the school will have no choice but to temporarily close. They are doing the right thing in being prepared.

They'll just be checking. We have quite a few off at the moment and some only because their adults are worried. So we need to be on the ball with home learning in case more staff go off and we have to close a year group.

Our primary sent out new codes for there online learning class on the first day back just incase not heard anything else. Am guessing there preparing for the worst but hoping for the best.

School have to let you know if their is a case in your dc class tho so you can lft.

I've had 1 email about 1 case in my dd class my friend has had 4 emails in 2 weeks about cases in her ds class.

Prepare for the worst, hope for the best. They probably have a few teachers off, I know we do. I started this term in isolation.

It’s a very useful computer lesson. It’s a skill needed in all areas of life now.

Sounds sensible to me. It doesn’t even have to be for school/class closure - my ds(yr5) is currently positive so at home and the school are doing English and maths lessons live via teams as there are a few children off across the year.
