If you took more PCR tests after first positive one, how long until it went negative

This is for travel. Person has tested positive on PCR day before was due to travel. Lateral flows were negative for a couple of days then turned positive. Once they went negative and now 10 days has passed they are taking daily private PCRs as they need to go back overseas to work.

Any first person experiences of how long it takes to get a negative PCR?

I have read could be up to 90 days. Average is 48 days, another report said average was 30 days, another report said most people test negative within 15 to 17 days.

Our own son tested positive on a Friday and the next PCR taken following Friday was negative. He was asymptomatic though so may have already had it for half a week as was being tested twice a week.

I am thinking airline crew for example must had had multiple tests to be able to travel again.

DS tested positive again a good month after he was infected in the summer - it was picked up on his Day 2 test after he returned from abroad.

Does the country allow proof of recovery instead?

I had a PCR on day 12 which was positive. The one 2 weeks later was negative. I've been doing them every 2 weeks since and never tested positive again.

Sorry no advice but following as I also want to know. My colleague told me his family all tested negative on pcr 6-8 days after. This was back on May 2020

Mine was five weeks. I tested weekly as at the time my kid’s school wouldn’t let them back until I had negative PCR.

Also, I think that initially they used to advise to get a pcr in first 5-7 days as some people won’t have enough viral load after this to test positive. Was long time ago and rules changed so much since so not 100% certain

I did a PCR 4 weeks after my initial positive (as I had new symptoms) and it was negative.

Thanks for the replies. This country will not allow proof of recovery unfortunately and requires another PCR test on arrival and another test a few days later. It is a lot of tests. I guess just need patience then!

Hilariously.... not! The PCR he took yesterday to see if he could travel has been passed to Track and Trace to trigger another 10 days quarantine. I don't think it is valid, well doesn't matter as flew this am anyway. Endless fun!!
