Those who have had covid more than once, did anyone have it more severely the second or third time?

I can't find any research on this. I'm testing the theory that when you've had it you can be fairly confident that it won't be worse than the first bout if you catch it again. I know different variants could present in different ways, so it is possible. I also get it will change depending on numbers of vaccines. Haas anyone looked at this and found any articles/statistics?

My brother had it twice. The first time he just had a bit of a sore throat, second time he felt worse. Both times was still fairly mild though.

I have just had it a second time. Much milder the second time and haven't had my booster yet.

My dd1 has had it 3 times (luckily she lives away now!). First time was like a very heavy cold, second time was flu like, much worse than first. Third time was a runny nose. I reckon she'd had the original strain, then delta and then omicron.

We've done a fair bit of leaving groceries on er doorstep!

Had no symptoms first time and had a a mild cold with covid this time

IHaveToSay · 16/01/2022 20:17

First time I just had a cough. Second time I felt horrific, like I had the flu. Couldn’t get out of bed for 3 days. And that was after my booster and most probably omicron due to the timing!

I had it very mildly in 2020 and a hell of a lot worse in 2021. The reverse is true for the rest of my family.

Interestingly 1st and 3rd time quite unwell 2nd not much. 1st still tops the billing though I had such bad aches and pains and painful skin! Never really suffered with a cough though or breathing problems but I’m on inhalers and they could have helped.

Someone from by dB’s office has it for the second time, had it pre vaccines last year mildly. Got it again last week triple jabbed and is much worse than the first time.

chocolateisavegetable · 18/01/2022 21:03

I know someone who had it worse the second time - it was just as Omicron was taking off, so it may have been due to a different variant
