Can you describe how your sense of taste changed?

Goodness me, I never had health anxiety before all this.

Anyway, I’ve been isolating with my child all week. My daily lateral flows have been negative, but today I feel “off”. My sense of taste seems different, too. Coffee tastes DISGUSTING but I’m not sure if it was a dud one (someone brought it from a drive thru for me). Also, seem to have a bitter taste in my mouth.

I still have a sense of taste. Can anyone describe how their taste changed with covid? Thank you!

My taste is now fully back.
So is my dd's.
I definitely had omicron.

Horrid bitter taste in my mouth and lots of things taste rancid or like fish oil. Bread and cheese are particularly bad. I did manage to eat a boiled egg which tasted OK.

My friend had covid early Spring 2020. Lost her sense of taste and smell and HAS NEVER GOT IT BACK! She loves to cook and bake too. It's called anosmia. She has calcification and they are trying to retrain her senses, but she has had little success. It's beyond food and can be dangerous- She can't smell burning or gas.
And she's doubly annoyed as she hasn't lost any weight ...

I tested positive today after 2 days of symptoms. My partner treated me to a Chinese to try and cheer me up a bit. It’s hard to explain but nothing had any particular taste… the curry sauce felt spicy and I could tell the sweet and sour was sweet, but other than that there was no flavour. Maybe it was just a shit takeaway but it’s our regular and usually brilliant 😂 At least it wasn’t my 30 quid wasted!

Mine just disappeared, I kept eating things expecting flavour but nothing. Such a weird thing to chew food and get nothing whatsoever from it taste wise.

As if my taste buds had been switched off not just dulled like you get with a cold sometimes. Came back within about 2 weeks.

In the same way you turn volume down on sound, it was as if someone had turned the volume turned right down with my taste buds, zero taste - pickled onions : nothing! And then I discovered i could taste gherkins, can only think it was the combination of sweet and sour kick started my taste buds, slowly it came back. Two years on, I find my taste does go down again occasionally but I have no idea why.

Strangely had some ice cream. I am about 12 days after my first Lft. Couldnt taste a thing! Hoping it was just cold.
