I think you should get some proper medical advice - 111/out of hours, even A&E. It could be dangerous to assume this is omicron when something more urgent could be going on.

A rapid heart rate can be a sign that your body is fighting an infection of some sort, so I'd recommend getting yourself checked out just incase that's what's going on - especially if you've also had a fever.

A raised heart rate is a normal reaction to a virus or infection. It is your body trying to fight it.

However, if it is going too fast for too long, rather than short lived palpations, it is always worth getting it checked out with a medical professional.

Just seen that you haven't tested positive.
There are lots of other viruses going round too, so it hold be any other gusts not just covid.

But if you have had a fever, rapid heart rate and periods of dizziness then it's worth getting medical advice.

Depends how prolonged it was.....I have a diagnosed ectopic heart beat....most times I don’t notice it.....when I had Covid I had lots of episodes of a fast thumping heart beat...... it’s all dies back done now I’m recovered

My heart rate was elevated before I had any other symptoms and I just knew I was about to get ill. That lasted for a few days, followed by ectopic heart beats which I always get with nasty viruses. The ectopics take a few weeks to settle for me.

Yes on the second and third day of it, I had a HR of around 100-101 so just slightly tachy (resting HR is usually 65-70).

I was horribly feverish though, so attributed it to that and body fighting infection.

If it had been much higher, or persisted beyond the fever/day 3, I would have sought advice.

I still have a rapid heart rate quite a while after covid and it isn't going away, seems to be when tired or stressed but only started after covid, plus despite not particularly mixing have had another couple of things which have occurred since covid that haven't had for years so immune system low I think. Sorry haven't read full thread.

@Kitkat151, that describes how my hear keeps feeling!

BigotSpigot · 16/01/2022 13:27

One month out, I had a raised heartbeat when infectious (usually mine is very slow) and now have some erratic heartbeats etc. I think it takes a long while to get better from this.
