Did you lose weight with covid? No appetite

Usually I eat like a horse. I'm lucky not to have lost my sense of taste but can't muster the energy to make food or eat much. I make porridge or toast for the DCs but don't fancy it. Soup or smoothies are appealing and yoghurt. Not much else though. I can afford to lose some weight!

DH cooks dinner and sorts lunch for everyone but I can't manage much or just skip it altogether. I'm drinking lots of water.

I had no appetite but didn’t loose any weight as was more or less in bed for a week (normally v active)

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 15/01/2022 21:34

Yes I lost weight. Then I got my taste back, then it was Christmas and I put it all back on and more.

Starburst8 · 15/01/2022 21:42

I didn't lose my sense of taste or smell. I thought my appetite would go but no such luck!
If anything I ate more, but saying that I didn't have the usual covid symptoms.

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 15/01/2022 21:43

I think it's a mental thing as well. I can't be arsed to eat

This never usually happens 😅

I’ve gained 7lb in a week of having it Blush

I’ve never been so hungry in all my life. I ate 4 jacket potatoes with a huge amount of tuna mayo for dinner and could have eaten the same again an hour later.

I must be the only person to have covid and gain weight (no change to taste or smell).

Sloughsabigplace · 16/01/2022 00:45

(I do gain weight fast though if I over eat, that’s very usual for me, sadly. 7lb in one week is quite so able, my metabolism is fucked from a lifetime of yo yo dieting).

daisydalrymple · 16/01/2022 00:47

I had covid Christmas 2020. I lost half a stone.

Aimeehedge · 16/01/2022 00:48

I lost about a stone and a half. I couldn’t hold good down or in at all for several weeks. I’ve never known anything like it snd as a mum I’ve had my fair share if bugs. My stomach is still wrecked now,

Thegirlwiththeeagereyes · 16/01/2022 00:51

Lost half a stone in about 4 days as I couldn't keep food in my body. Then put it back on once I felt better again!

Disneydatknee88 · 16/01/2022 00:53

I lost half a stone. Had covid at the beginning of December and my symptoms were headache, muscle aches and nausea. Only lasted a few days but took a while for my appetite to return.

Kitkat151 · 16/01/2022 02:19

I lost 5 lb .... have since pit 3lb back on

User6397254 · 16/01/2022 02:57

I lost a couple of kg but I usually do if I have any kind of virus, it doesn't take much to make me fee nauseous, my appetite is the first to go, same if I have any sort of stress. My weight soon seem to go back to normal though after a couple of weeks so I'm sure some of it is dehydration

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 16/01/2022 14:14

I've made some vegetable soup today plus a few extra portions. Very nutritious, I managed half a bowl and took some multivitamins with it. Being in the kitchen for an hour has exhausted me even though I sat down for all the chopping. Back to bed

I had it over New Year. I didn't lose smell or taste but I didn't eat much at all for about a week. Got into my too tight jeans yesterday.

Thanks Covid!

CA0932017 · 16/01/2022 17:42

Yes me. I was totally off food - even when I could still taste - I eventually lost taste but I lost a few pounds. I was off food for quite a while. Taste didn't go for long but things tasted funny for a while after which didn't help.

I just wasn't hungry!

Bananarice · 16/01/2022 17:45

Last year covid infection I lost a lot of weight. Because every time I ate, the food caused stomach cramps. So I only ate when I needed to.

This year's covid infection I gained weight.

Siuan · 16/01/2022 21:40

I lost 10lb in two weeks, put it back after about 6 weeks though.
Worse though is that I've put weight on since recovering.
My weight before covid had been the same for 40 years. Since recovering from covid 4 months ago I've gained 10lb despite no change in diet or activity.

Passthecake30 · 16/01/2022 21:43

I didn’t have an appetite but I ate a lot of sugary sweets to try and give myself some energy. My fitbit was tallying up 500 calories less per day than normal. I put on about 2lb but that was over Xmas whereas I’d usually put on more.
