My 6 month old has (symptomatic) COVID - anyone been there?

My eldest (asymptomatic) tested positive on Monday after an outbreak at nursery.

Seems to have skipped middle.

Youngest tested positive this morning. Temp of just under 40, fast/loud breathing, more tired than usual but getting smiles and giggles in between times.

She is generally a healthy, happy baby except that she has dropped from the 89th to 9th centile with no obvious explanation.

I've been in touch with HV who has spoken to GP so I know what I need to look out for, but interested in other peoples experiences if their babies had COVID when so little.

My 15 week old has just tested positive via LFT. He was crying all night on and off but his temperature was not hugely raised - 37.5. My eldest also brought it back from nursery and has been asymptomatic.

He’s been miserable and sleeping when not crying. Now does feel quite hot. He also has awful skin which flared up a week ago but don’t think it’s related.

Not sure when to seem help but might call 111 for some
Advice as feeling a little worried.

Well if it helps... I was told to use paracetamol or ibuprofen to keep the temp down and keep an eye on the breathing.

If I felt really worried or she was sucking in her tummy to breathe (i.e. struggling so much that she had to use her stomach muscles) then to call. Also any grey/blueness round the mouth or lips.

I would also always be looking out for difficult to wake or floppiness.

Your baby is a bit younger though so do speak to someone if you are really concerned.

Mine is poorly, more poorly than she has been before but if I think back, not acting any differently than my first would have done when she had a nasty bug. (My middle child never ever gets properly poorly. In his whole life an illness has slowed him down once).

Hope your little one feels better soon.

In case anyone else finds themselves in this position.. this data has just been released. Sounds scary initially but if you keep reading is actually quite positive.

My 10 month old had fever under 40 and loss of appetite, I was worried at first because he is quite a chunky boy and loves food, but he didn't want to eat at all and was quite miserable. Luckily it quickly went away and he was fine within 48hrs.

Hope your baby is on the mend soon.
