Hello

I am currently at home covid positive and due to isolate until next Monday. I've been unwell but am getting better - still very tired though.

The worst thing about it currently is that I feel so sad Sad/anxious. About everything - the past, the future, things I am scared of, how much everything is going to cost this upcoming year, how my teens will do in their exams after all the endless disruptions, how they will do generally. You name it, I am worried about it.

I guess it's normal to feel down / anxious after any kind of virus and this one has the added isolation element to it.

If you have felt like this what kinds of things have helped you feel better?

I have found talking to our kids, just teen and a pre-teen quite positive, they seem to have more resilience than I thought, which is reassuring.

As for the rise in the cost of living, for us, it's a time to stop buying stuff, bit that we bought much, but stuff that we want, as you only want it for a bit, reconnect with library etc. Use or donate the things we do have as we are concerned about the planet our kids will inherit so less consumerism all round won't be a bad thing.

New year, new us. Back to cooking from scratch scratch. Not much processed food which makes a food bill a bit cheaper.

Try to think back to what made you happy before the current pandemic and work from there.

I am also in need of cheering up. Covid sucks. I get anxious. I just want my fever to go away and be on the mend. I am on day 3 and still have a fever.

I try to watch a bit of netflix, which helps a little. But I also do some googling, which then makes me very anxious. ARGH! :(

STay away from google.

I’m with you, OP.

On Day 8. Can technically stop isolating today as got two negative LFTs but I still feel quite crappy - high temperature and tired.

My anxiety has been through the roof this week and have been crying randomly and having trouble sleeping at night due to worrying about all sorts of stuff, big and small. I don’t know if it’s being ill, off work, inside/in the dark all the time or what. Usually I meditate morning and evening to keep anxiety at bay, but I’m struggling to keep that up while unwell.

Nice baths are helping a bit.
Watching funny or otherwise absorbing stuff on TV.
I’m going to give myself a very gentle spruce up/pamper tomorrow - body scrub, facial, do my nails - if I can muster the energy.

I quite enjoyed my covid isolation 😂 The days DH was at home, I got extended periods of being allowed to lay in bed, child free, watching crappyTV. I haven’t done that in nearly 5 years 😂 but I’m not remotely worried about covid so no anxiety on my part. The days I was on my own with 2 young kids, I didn’t have time to even think about it.. had to get on & parent!

I did however feel pretty miserable & poorly. So I cheered myself up by eating loads of chocolate biscuits & booking a summer holiday to Majorca! I found spending a few hours scrolling through photos of hotels & beaches & sunshine filled pictures a real pick me up! And once we decided where to book, I watched YouTube videos & looked at review photos & felt a real sense of something to finally look forward too! Roll on August!

@Mamabear12 and @MsBananas I hope you are both feeling better Flowers. Yes stay away from Google MsBananas!

I think it definitely is a combination of all those things you mention Mamabear12 - the darkness and staying inside, and the lack of control. More time to ruminate. I hope your pampering session went well 🧡.

@Bobholll I enjoyed the lying in bed bit as well - am now at the working from home sitting on the sofa stage and wishing I was back in bed Grin.
