Time for a lockdown?

OP posts:
Waxonwaxoff0 · 09/01/2022 18:50

No.

@TalkToTheHand123

Time for a lockdown?
Absolutely.

I'll get the welding machine out.

AnxiousHeffalump · 09/01/2022 18:52

Where have you heard about it?

Sparklingbrook · 09/01/2022 18:56

Here we go again...

Theunamedcat · 09/01/2022 18:57

New one in France too discovered fairly recently and we are still removing measure such as testing tracing etc etc

Pinkflipflop85 · 09/01/2022 18:57

People really will make any old shit up won't they...

HerRoyalNotness · 09/01/2022 18:58

From another thread it’s a contaminated sample

SmallElephant · 09/01/2022 19:00

Are you serious OP? You think we should have a lockdown now based on the currently known information?

merrygoround23 · 09/01/2022 19:00

Is this a thing? I've not heard anything but viruses do mutate so I didn't think omicron would be the last

Bordois · 09/01/2022 19:00

Don't go bringing yer fancy pants facts round here!

UnmentionedElephantDildo · 09/01/2022 19:02

They haven't yet ascertained if it's a new variant, or if it's lab contamination.

Further announcemts in the coming week

And yes, here we go again. Or rather, here it goes again. Even if this one comes to nothing, there will be new variants.

Cherrytart23 · 09/01/2022 19:02

If you want a lockdown go lock down on your own. Why do you need everyone to lock down?

GirlInACountrySong · 09/01/2022 19:02

the new variants are less and less serious though...

so why jump straight to 'lockdown'?

Sparklingbrook · 09/01/2022 19:03

I was more a 'here we go again' with all the threads on MN. Grin

MajorCarolDanvers · 09/01/2022 19:04

Honestly I think some people actually want lockdowns. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Not necessarily

There's no particular evolutionary pressure either way, because it spreads before symptoms appear. It doesn't matter how ill or dead it makes the host once it has moved on.

They do! they want to stay in their houses eating tinned tomatoes on loo roll forever.

I think they're trading, and they always get bites
trollopolis · 09/01/2022 19:07

trading = teasing

Slooery fingers and DYAC !

Cookerhood · 09/01/2022 19:07

So the one in France is an old one which was then out-competed by Omicron. The reason it has come up again this week is because a pre-print has been published this week. The Cyprus one is thought to be a lab contamination. The papers love to cause a scare Hmm

Tiredalwaystired · 09/01/2022 19:07

Widely discussed in the Twitter science community today as a contaminated sample. Nothing to see here

Watercoloursky · 09/01/2022 19:08

This scientist (who works in vaccine research and development) seems pretty confident it's just contamination: mobile.twitter.com/sailorrooscout/status/1479950248562860038

sarahc336 · 09/01/2022 19:10

Oh god aren't we passed the frantic stage of wanting to lock down??? 😩😩

Ylvamoon · 09/01/2022 19:14
