Ds tested positive faint line ( pic 1)
Done another test ( flow flex pic 2) and it's negative does he need a pcr has this happened to anyone else?

From Monday, a positive lateral flow will require isolation, no pcr confirmation.

I'd get a pcr now to confirm a negative. It's not that faint a line on the first test, and omicron is supposed to be detected in the throat first (I'm assuming that first o e is throat and nose?).

Just had a flowflex negative with my daughter then a positive with a different test

Was the flowflex nose only and the other one also throat? I read that throat swabs pick up omicron earlier than nose swabs

If you had a positive, faint or not, why did you do another one?

RoxieLoxy · 08/01/2022 12:55

There was a theory that doing a second test straight after will be less accurate because there are less cells to pick up in the sample. Totally not proven in any way afaik but it could explain it. You'd need to book a PCR to confirm the positive.

Don't bother doing another one after the 1st positive. Just get a pcr. Or take it as positive.e

I had faint positive LFT (flow flex) and negative PCR so not sure what’s going on. DH had faint positive LFT and positive PCR (now has typical symptoms) but he only took the PCR initially because of my positive LFT.
