Cold symptoms and new variant

Has anyone had omicron and can confirm if it really does feel like a cold? I’ve had raging cold symptoms for four days now, have taken 3 lateral flows and all negative (I’m a teacher so I test every second day for work anyway.) Just wondering if I can relax and know this is just a cold? Feeling anxious that I’ve tested too early or something? I had covid last September and felt awful almost instantly and got a positive lateral flow that night. Can someone convince me I just have a cold this time? Blush

I got a positive test yesterday and it's like I have a bad cold and today the headache. Watery eyes.
There are threads about the different stages of it.

Hope you feel better soon.

You can't test too early when you have symptoms that is only an issue when you are a close contact.

My brother recently had it and said it was just a cold, he didn't think for a second that his test would be positive but it was.

When I just had a sore throat my lft tested negative. When I had more of the symptoms (nose/head) I got a positive so I’d say if you have a runny nose and a negative you have a cold

You have symptoms so should get a PCR test done and isolate until you get results.

Day 4 for my son (6) and I and he has a negative LFT and my line is very faint! Hoping it carries on in that direction!
He keeps saying his tummy hurts and he doesn't feel well. I've felt v v v tired and achey, sore throat has gone luckily!

My household has currently had/ have covid. My lateral flows have always been a mix of positive and negative so you will need a pcr. I’ve taken two lateral flows in a row, one negative and one positive so don’t rely on them for answers

I took a pcr test when my partner had it last xmas. Mine came back negative, but then I had a high temp, headaches and cough for about three weeks.

This time I've been full of cold (blocked nose, coughing, headaches) for about three months solid. I've been mixing with lots of people and a few with covid. All my lft's are coming back negative.

Them flu drinks are my favourite friend.

My GP's website says runny nose, sneezing, sore throat, headache, fatigue, fever, cough are all symptoms of Omicrom and to test. If you haven't had a PCR, then you could get one this morning (to be sure) and results should be back tomorrow.
