Anyone else had tingling scalp with covid infection?

I tested positive a week ago, I’ve been largely well except for a runny nose and headache. But yesterday and today I’ve had a weird sort of burning/tingling sensation in my scalp. Just wondered if this was a known thing?

My ds had exactly this as his first symptom! I was so weird. He’s 9 and it woke him up at night with him crying and saying a particular spot on his head was tingling. We’d thought he’d scratched it but couldn’t see any redness etc. It was enough to really upset him and we’ve all got covid now…!

*It

I had that sensation but all over my body.

I’m so sorry you all have it too. I hope you’re not too ill with it? That must have been frightening for your son as it’s such a weird feeling and has left me feeling a bit anxious today.

I had intense itching but not on the scalp, so similar -ish.

Yeah then I came out in the most horrendous hives on my head and forehead

My hairdresser has found a few people have had severe reactions to their hair dye after having covid and even after having the patch test

Lawnpop · 08/01/2022 09:00

That’s worrying about the hair dye. I guess it must be the immune system going into overdrive. I’ll make sure to do a patch test before I’m next getting my hair done. My nose feels quite tingly too, but the scalp thing is just so weird like a cross between burning and tingling

Hope you feel better soon. Mine lasted a few days and was the last symptom to go (apart from smell/taste loss)

Bagelsandbrie · 08/01/2022 09:17

It’s very strange isn’t it. I’ve had a really tingly nostril as one of my own symptoms….!

I've been having a very painful scalp after having my Pfizer booster. It's like it's become massive over sensitive, I have been using dry shampoo all week because I can't face washing it when it's so painful. No visible hives/rash etc. Odd.

I had the same after my booster (unless I actually had Covid). It actually hurt to brush my hair because my scalp was sensitive and tingly. I’ve had a similar feeling on my arms before with viruses but never all over like this.

So weird. I wonder if it’s some sort of nerve thing

I get a tingling scalp as part of a migraine (often I get non painful migraines). But I noticed I got a tingling scalp, but none of the other migraine symptoms after my booster in December.

Covids causing alot of hair and scalp problems Inc hair loss , after my first infection my whole scalp tingled burned and was red and then I started losing hair 😔 I actually paid to see a top derm because I was heartbroken lost my hair ten years ago due to Anorexia and have grew it back ever since was always a fear of mines , he said he's seeing alot of people with this stress response, hasn't even fully stopped falling out and I tested positive again the burning and tingling had stopped but low and below it's started again and hairloss has already increased 3 weeks later I'm devestated,
