Testing positive on LF day 11. Due to fly day 16

Can anyone advise? My BIL is on day 11 of covid, feels fine but is still positive on lateral flow. He is due to fly back home to US on Wednesday which will be day 16. He will need to go to a test centre to have an observed lateral flow on Tuesday (day 15). What is going to happen if he is still positive on lateral flow? He has an email with his positive PCR result from day 1. Has this happened to anyone before? Is there a 'fit to fly' exemption he can get somehow? Thanks

It works in European countries. My partner came from The Netherlands with a doctors note because he continued tested positive on PCR. Doctors note was accepted by the airline.

You will have to enquire with the airline directly as I think it will be up to their discretion. However, I suspect within the next couple days he will finally test negative on LFT. You can take one in the morning which says positive and then by night it might be negative for a person recovering, happened to me.

Good luck!

Thanks. He only needs an observed LF to fly, no PCR required. I'm sure he'll be negative by day 15 but as it's getting closer to the date and he's still positive he's getting a bit twitchy so trying to get plans in place before then.
