Post covid- hospital check up?

I had covid back in September, was also hospitalised for a week when I developed bacterial pneumonia on top of that.

My discharge notes stated I needed a repeat xray 6 weeks after and check up in covid clinic in 3 months.
I had the x-ray in Novemeber and results did not come to my gp so after a month I chased it up to the hospital who said they would get results to me and instead I've recieved an appointment for another x-ray next week and an appointment with a respiratory consultant.

For those in similar circumstances is this normal protocol? I feel it's a such a waste me taking up a hospital appointment for them to say presumably I'm fine? And why the second chest x-ray and not to give me the results of the first?

I know nobody knows the answers to this 😂 but just wondered if anybody has been in the same position? What to expect at the appointment?

Thanks!

I was in hospital in August, they told me to expect an xray and review in 3 months.
I got a telephone consultation with the respiritory nurse after 8 weeks then a FTF appointment with the consultant after 3 months. He also arranged an xray. I have no lingering symptoms and he arranged for a pneumoccocol vaccine and discharged me.

I think if you still have symptoms at that point they treat it as long covid and monitor you.

Thank you for the info! Good to hear you have no lingering symptoms 🙂 I think that's why I feel like I'm wasting their time as I'm 100% myself again and the hospital isn't even around the corner for me so feels like a wasted journey to just be told I'm fine and discharged, I'd be happy to do that over the phone!

Maybe there was something on your first xray and they want to check it's cleared?
Could you ring patient admin and ask if they can change it to a telephone or video appointment?

That is a possibility, I had 2 xrays whilst in hospital and the second said things had improved but wasnt completely back to normal so maybe they just want to discuss that.
I did try to just get my results over the phone but they wouldn't give them to me so I guess I will just have to wait and see!

The lack of information and communication isn’t ideal and must be worrying for you. I don’t know if this is any reassurance but it’s quite usual to have a follow up xray and consultation following admission to hospital with pneumonia. Sounds like you were clearly very poorly, so you should be followed up. Flowers
Your GP could chase up the xray for you and get more information.
