I understand I can book the second vaccine after 8 weeks from the first but know people last year that had it week 4-5 later.

Has anybody done that recently? At a walk in for example.

Thought it was 12 weeks between doses

dementedpixie · 05/01/2022 22:12

Or was that reduced to 8 weeks?
It keeps changing

Depends on your age. Under 18s need to leave 12 weeks between first and second doses, adults just 8. When the vaccine first came out there was a minimum of 21 days with 28 being suggested as ideal, then as the studies came out a bigger gap looked like it gave better protection so things were changed to follow the science.

Also, not what you were asking but something people don't seem to know, if your under 18 has had Covid in the last 12 weeks they need to wait until 12 weeks has fully elapsed before going for their booster.

Thanks. So they've changed it to 8 weeks. I was hoping to get it sooner at a walk in.
