What happened to your sense of smell?!

So I’m day 7, symptoms have been a mild cold and are pretty much gone. I’ve been triple vaxed. My line is starting to fade. But tonight out of the blue I went to have some fish and chips and oh my god the smell! It took me ages to work out that it was the vinegar once I smelt the bottle, I thought it was off but hubby and kids said it’s fine. The smell is unlike anything I’ve smelt in my life… like a horrific chemical smell, I smelt a couple of other strong things and the smell wasn’t right, it wasn’t nice and smelt alien to me.

When they said your smell goes I assumed it was just that but this is bizarre. What were your experiences and how long did it last? Is it normal to develop that this late?

I lost my sense of smell on around day 6 or 7. Didn't have any strange smell sensations but a few things tasted absolutely awful - I had to keep chucking food and drink that I usually like away because I just couldn't stand the taste.

3 months on, my taste is pretty much back to normal now, and I can smell again, though I do think it's weaker than before. I think it also comes and goes a bit.

I lost smell & taste but when it came back everything smelt (and tasted) smoky for a while. Savoury stuff for better quicker but for a while anything sweet smelt and tasted awful.

I think I’m on day 5 or 6 (from when symptoms started) and all of a sudden half way through today everything smells/tastes really acidic! Almost like very strong salt & vinegar crisps. I’m not impressed as other than that I feel basically fine.

Yeh mine started really suddenly this evening, I’m on day 7. Everything smells weird but the vinegar… oh god I had to leave the room I’ve never smelt anything like it! All of my symptoms have essentially gone now too, wasn’t expecting any surprises! Very odd

I had COVID back in July. I regained my sense of taste after a few weeks but still have no sense of smell. I’m actually used to it now

Pleased to read someone else having the vinegar issue 😂. I can smell it really strongly too in marmite bizarrely and then in the likes of tomato ketchup etc. Very odd.

I lost my smell on day 7ish, but it only went for couple of days.

My taste went.... weird. Not sure how to describe it. Almost...tangy. But again, it wasn't for long.
