Anyone managed to get their 5-11 year old vaccinated yet?

As household contacts of a CEV person my kids are now eligible for Covid vaccination (link here for anyone unaware).

I'm trying to get it organised, but the GP say they don't do it, the local vaccination team say they don't do it and the schools immunisation team (both local and county) say they don't do it either. Each pass me to the other! I know systems for extra vaccinations for CEV folk and their households have been badly organised and know it may take some time for the local health authorities to organise it, but I'm posting in the hopes that someone has managed it, so we can try whatever they did to get theirs done! :)

(and i'll say upfront I'm not looking for a debate about vaccinating children, thanks!)

I had a text today for my 7year old. Which was a surprise as he isn’t CV as far as I am aware! He was 6 weeks premature so maybe that’s it?

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 27/01/2022 22:17

I don't think that would do it Excalibur. My ds was a similar prematurity and isn't classed as vulnerable. Might be worth checking with your GP. Unless you want him to have it.

Thanks @PastMyBestBeforeDate I’ll check with my GP as he (thankfully) has no health issues at all and in fact has had Covid (twice!) with very mild/no symptoms at all. The only thing I could think of was the premature birth.

@PastMyBestBeforeDate

Just bumping this with news that we had a text today and ds has an appointment :)
@PastMyBestBeforeDate Only just saw this! That's brilliant news - congratulations! I am very jealous!

We're in Brighton and still nothing here sadly. A local councillor put an update on the local FB group saying that the roll out for 5-11 was starting, but the council vaccination website hasn't been updated and there's no news here. It's desperately frustrating. I spoke to my GP (who was very involved with the adult vaccine roll out) and he said that GPs in the city wouldn't be doing it due to "patchy coverage" so they were trying to organise a central location to do it from. Hence all the delays I guess.

My DP is now over 10 weeks post his booster and I am 5+ weeks since my 4th jab. By the time the kids are finally double jabbed, he and I will no longer have any significant level of protection left.
Meanwhile Boris is ending all restrictions later this month... I despair.

For anyone still reading - my kids finally got their first jabs yesterday. We got a text on Monday inviting my eldest to book. Nothing for youngest though and when I queried with the GP they confirmed only the eldest was on the list. They emailed the vaccine hub though and it was resolved quickly on the Tuesday. We booked in for Wednesday and were first through the door to be done! Very exciting! Now we just have to wait 8 weeks for the second one!

So if anyone is in Brighton waiting to hear and hasn't yet - check in with your GP to make sure your kids are on the list! :)

Oh so so pleased that people are finally getting jabs!

I have a CV under 12. Since the first week of january i have tried to find out information from the GP, from the vaccine hub and from his consultant. It has all been 'not rolled out in this LA yet'.

FFS. I am going to sob with joy when it finally happens.
