I'm going to ring the Drs tomorrow because I'm worried about him but I'm also worried that given his symptoms they will tell me to do an LFT or a PCR.
Does anyone know if I'll be expected to do that to my baby? And if so how on earth do you do it. He has a tiny nose and nostrils. It seems barbaric to inflict that on him but equally I appreciate that if he has covid then we obviously need to know and take necessary measures.

I should add that its a very wet cough like he needs to bring up phlegm.

When I had covid it was very dry and like a bark.

Oh bless you. It probably is just a cough and cold and even if it is covid the baby will likely have it mildly. YOu could test them if you want to but if you have already had covid I probably wouldn't bother.

If your baby is otherwise healthy, ie feeding, sleeping, alert when awake and normal nappies then try not to worry unless something else changes. Babies can often shoot up high temperatures quickly so maybe make sure you have some calpol in the house to bring down a temperature but babies get the sniffles all the time.

The worst is clearing out their snotty noses, only works with suction as they can't blow and only a mother would do it.

He doesn't have a temp so that's good, just a cough or maybe a sore throat because one moment he's happy and the next he will suddenly start screaming for no reason and arch his back like he's in pain then start coughing/wrenching. He gets very upset when this happens and its really distressing to watch. I don't think I will sleep much tonight.

Don’t test I think it’s cruel for young children and babies especially when they are already feeling unwell. It sounds like a cold, babies always cough when they have a cold as the snot drains into their throats and causes a very wet sounding cough. Calpol vapour plug in always helps my little one.
