LFT test - 15 minutes for positive?... more like 15 seconds!

I know the guidance is to wait for 15 minutes, but in practice my experience is that you know in more like 15 seconds (or less!) when it's positive! I realise there may be a few weakly positive results that may take longer to show, and the Government would want a timeframe that covered all results, but in reality, has anyone needed to wait 15 minutes, or even close to that, to see a positive result?

I'm currently positive and my test line showed before the control line

ilovebagpuss · 04/01/2022 13:30

Absolutely! Every single positive I have ever seen has shown up as the fluid goes up the test positive line then control line in a few seconds really. I’ve seen loads at work too none has ever “developed” later

Kara198 · 04/01/2022 13:31

I'm positive day 7 and just tested again, test line still coming up instantly. Pre covid I always used to wait to check but I don't think I'd bother doing that now

InTheLabyrinth · 04/01/2022 13:32

Yep, they do develop.
Been watching 100s today. While most are there early on, about a quarter take their time.

WorraLiberty · 04/01/2022 13:34

Straight to positive for me and my DS

Also the experience of anyone who's ever discussed their test with me.

lightnesspixie · 04/01/2022 13:36

So my first positive took maybe four or five minutes but after that much faster

Scarby9 · 04/01/2022 13:37

I know someone where it appeared in the last 5 mins of the 30 min wait, confirmed by a PCR.

OpposableThumbs2 · 04/01/2022 13:39

My daughter took one on day 7 that took around 10 minutes to develop a positive.
A few days earlier it had appeared as the liquid travelled up the test.

gamerchick · 04/01/2022 13:41

Straight to positive for son before the control line here.

Notonthestairs · 04/01/2022 13:46

Tests Day 6 &7 came up at 7 mins and 9 mins respectively.

KCee30 · 04/01/2022 13:46

Dp got an instant positive before the control line come up. Mine wasn't quite so instant but pretty quick!

toomuchlaundry · 04/01/2022 13:49

I assume it is probably more about not looking after 15 minutes than having to wait 15 minutes

Trinacham · 04/01/2022 14:09

My line came up as soon as the liquid was soaked up! Could see it immediately, before even the control line had appeared! It was a very strong line too.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 04/01/2022 14:12

Same could see it the minute the liquid hit it

Bagelsandbrie · 04/01/2022 14:25

My dhs positive showed within a few seconds.

SmallestInTheClass · 04/01/2022 20:18

My first with first symptoms took about 5 mins, on day 6 it was immediate as the liquid passed the line. Day 8 and more feint, took about 10 mins.

WishIwasElsa · 04/01/2022 20:27

Dds took about 8 minutes today. I've never done another lft thas been positive before so I can't say other than that

JibbaJabber · 04/01/2022 20:28

I’ve had covid twice.

First time the positive line was immediate.

Second time it took about 3 minutes for my positive to show up and it got stronger over about 15 minutes.

Satsumay · 04/01/2022 20:31

Are we meant to wait the full 30 minutes or is 15 minutes OK on the Flowflex? I know it says to read between these times but if I read and chuck at 15 minutes is that OK?

Also OP yes in our experience it was instant. Got a right shock (no symptoms).

HerbertChops · 04/01/2022 20:32

This is my experience, we’ve not had faint lines either, very very dark. Surprised me first time as not seen pictures of really dark ones!

AnyFucker · 04/01/2022 20:36

First positive test was an immediate dark line

isitnewyearyet · 04/01/2022 20:37

Positive line on mine took about 15 mins to appear then got stronger and stronger

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 04/01/2022 23:01

Mine showed straightaway. I also used to think the same about pregnancy tests though. 3 minutes? More like 3 seconds.

Inastatus · 04/01/2022 23:12

Yep mine showed up straight away too but you know they have to give a broad time range to allow for people’s differences - not everyone is the same.

LSLLM · 04/01/2022 23:18

Na, it took a good 15 mins for my first positive

2 weeks ago it took about 10 mins for my daughter

It has no baring
